    PRINCIPLE/LEAD DATA ENGINEER ROLE PROFILE

    Hush is an ambitious and distinctive fashion brand, with plans to double the business over the next few years. Founded 20 years ago, we are now established as one of the UK's leading online fashion retailers. We employ around 140 staff in our head office and across 8 John Lewis concessions, creating and selling a beautiful range of women's clothing and accessories characterised by effortlessness, simplicity and a laidback sense of style. Despite the challenges to the retail industry, Hush has continued grow – and our company culture still reflects our entrepreneurial roots and relaxed aesthetic.     THE ROLE

    We are looking for a Principle / Lead Data Engineer to help us maintain and develop Hush's existing data technology stack. Along with being a hands-on engineer the successful candidate will be able to gain management experience through overseeing and supporting a small team, as well as growing their business partnering and stakeholder management skills through collaboration across the business to seek out requirements and opportunities.

    THE RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintaining and updating Hush's existing data warehouse (Google Big Query).
    • Integrating new systems via Hush's integration platform (Snaplogic) and designing / implementing data models using DBT.
    • Designing, maintaining, and delivering BI reports using Hush's BI reporting platform (Domo).
    • Line management of junior data engineer and 3rd party partners.
    • Data technology budget management.
    • Working with the wider business to prioritise ongoing changes to the data warehouse.
    • Ensuring technical robustness of the chosen solutions, maintaining security and performance of the data estate.
    • Working with the SLT to build and define the data strategy.
    • Act as subject matter expert on all things data.

    THE PERSON

    • Experience in a similar role, demonstrating management and technical capabilities.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience with data warehouse within a cloud environment and ETL process management.
    • Interest in data science preferred but not essential
    • The ability to drive change without defined processes, to deliver the right outcomes.
    • Ability to resolve misalignments between technical and business teams, delivering Hush the right outcomes.
