Job DescriptionPosition Overview:
As a Commercial Manager in the Transmission & Distribution sector, you will play a pivotal role in driving the commercial success of our clients' projects and operations within the energy transmission and distribution network.
You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the commercial lifecycle, from tendering and contract negotiation to project delivery and financial management.
Your primary focus will be on maximizing profitability while ensuring compliance with contractual agreements and regulatory requirements.You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including project management, engineering, procurement, and legal departments, to develop and implement commercial strategies that align with our business objectives.
You will use your in-depth experience of the NEC3 and NEC4 forms of contract (Options A and C) to administer projects effectively including the development and implementation of subcontracts with the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading the commercial aspects of tendering processes, including bid preparation, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations.
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to facilitate successful project delivery and identify new business opportunities.
Monitoring project performance against financial targets and contractual obligations, implementing corrective actions as necessary to mitigate risks and optimize profitability.
Providing guidance and support to project teams on commercial matters, including contract interpretation, change management, and claims resolution.Collaborating with legal counsel to review and negotiate contracts, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
Conducting market analysis and competitor research to identify emerging trends and opportunities for business growth
Qualifications:
3 years' relevant experience as a Commercial Manager
BSc or HND (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or other equivalent commercially related subject
Experience within the Power Transmission & Distribution sector preferred
Awareness and experience of construction methods, technology, standard forms of measurement and the NEC 3 and NEC4 forms of contract (Options A & C)
Excellent computer literacy with experience MS office suite of programmes.
Ability to read, understand, interpret and analyse a project programme
Desired Skills and Attributes:
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of commercial acumen, technical expertise, and leadership skills.
You should have a proven track record of success in commercial management within the Transmission & Distribution sector, with a strong understanding of industry regulations and market dynamics.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills are essential for effectively engaging with internal and external stakeholders.Salary:
£80,000 - £90,000 a year depending on experience + car allowance & bonus.
Job Location:
Hybrid Role – 3 days based in our client's Birmingham Office with the other 2 days based from home.
