    Description

    Position: Senior Planner/Associate - Retail

    Salary: Up to £85,000, plus bonus + benefits

    Location: London, some flexible hybrid available

    Capstone are working with an independent, market-leading property consultancy. Headquartered in London with offices in Scotland and Manchester. Their work encompasses planning and development, property management, specialist valuations and transactions across the United Kingdom.

    Planning is one of their largest departments, and one of the biggest P&D departments operating in the UK. The Department is structed into four Groups. The Commercial Planning Group advises many of the country's leading developers, financial institutions and landowners on retail and leisure development and asset management, roadside, town centres, offices, industrial, data centres, and mixed use development.

    This is an excellent opportunity to work within a busy and growing team. You will work on a variety of projects - large and small, specialising in out-of-town retail and leisure and roadside development. All team members have the opportunity of direct contact with clients, other professionals and local authorities, to provide exceptional career experience.

    About you:

    • A keen interest in planning and development;
    • Client-focussed;
    • RTPI and/or RICS (P&D) qualified;
    • Good technical knowledge;
    • A good communicator, both written and verbal;
    • Excellent presentation skills;
    • Excellent analytical ability;
    • Self-motivated;
    • Committed/ organised;
    • Use of Microsoft packages.
    • An ability to negotiate effectively;
    • Excellent experience of communication and client interfacing skills; and
    • A clear understanding of the "bigger picture", along with a strong attention to detail.

    About the role:

    • Advising on retail and leisure development and asset management, including understanding operator requirements and assisting with the technical arguments to support applications, including undertaking retail impact assessments.
    • Prepare advice to clients;
    • Work with team members on developing planning strategies, preparing programmes and reviewing information;
    • Drafting or reviewing reports, co-ordinating the preparation and submission of planning applications/ appeals/ representations and Judicial Reviews;
    • Supporting business development opportunities, assisting in firm-wide business development and preparing fee proposals;
    • Developing individual client base and part generating own workload;
    • Providing planning advice to clients and attending meetings;
    • Responsible for maintaining continuing professional development
