    This is an exciting time to join the EPSRC CDT DRIVE-Health Centre for Doctoral Training in Data-Driven Health .

    The DRIVE-Health CDT Manager will work closely with the CDT Directors and the CDT Management team as well as the Centre for Doctoral Studies (CDS) at King's and will be responsible for managing all aspects of administration whilst contributing to the strategy and operational development of the Centre.

    The CDT will fund over 85 PhD students over a period of 9 years and the post holder is expected to set up and manage all processes involved with the student lifecycle: from application and selection of PhD students to completion, including managing the financial aspect of the CDT Grant and studentships and supporting the CDT training programme.

    The CDT Manager will work closely with Post awards team to manage the CDT's finances and provide timely financial projections and reports on the status of the grant to the CDT Management Board. The postholder will also manage the funding provided by King's and external industry partners.

    The CDT manager will provide high-level support to the CDT's Management team, including: managing the annual cycle of work, providing information and advice, drafting reports, collating and analysing information and statistics and contributing to reports required by the funder, and internally by King's. The CDT Manager will act as the key contact for all parties involved in the CDT and oversee the delivery of various initiatives, as outlined in the awarded EPSRC CDT proposal, for example public engagement events, widening participation Vacation Internships scheme, impact, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and other activities.

    The CDT Manager will also act as first point of contact for CDT students and will be the first point of contact for the CDT Management Team, and central King's Services, such as Admissions, Registry Services and CDS, external partners, prospective students and external queries.

    Key functions of this role are as follows:

    • To support the CDT Directors and the Management Team in delivering all Objectives of the CDT
    • To provide professional services management and coordination for the CDT and to implement the CDT management & administration hub, and governing committee structure, with proactive support for the CDT's focus on equality, diversity & inclusion.
    • To provide high-quality support to the CDT Directors on all matters related to CDT delivery, effectively managing annual budgeting and reconciliation procedures to enable all CDT operations.
    • To oversee the CDT's communications strategy and regular reporting to EPSRC, the CDT Management team and Advisory Board;
    • To be the first point of contact for all parties involved in the CDT and other stakeholders across the partnership.

    Line managed jointly by the CDT Directors and the Associate Director (Doctoral Partnerships), the CDT Manager is a member of Doctoral Training Entities (DTE) Network in King's, sharing best practice and collaborating with other DTE Managers to enhance the experience of PhD students in the DRIVE-Health CDT and at King's.

    This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 3 years with provision of renewal pertinent of performance.

    The post can be offered a full-time or part-time job share basis.

    Key responsibilities

    • To provide high-quality support to the CDT Directors and CDT Management team, including preparation of reports, CDT data collation and analysis, advising on regulations (UKRI/EPSRC and King's) as appropriate.
    • To manage the coordination of the EPSRC DRIVE-Health CDT research training, cohort development programme and other activities across the institutions, working closely with the CDT's Director and Deputy Directors, the King's Centre for Doctoral Studies and relevant Faculty's committees.
    • To create, implement and maintain administrative procedures within the CDT, reviewing & modifying them as necessary; provide consistent programme management and support whilst adhering to university and UKRI regulations.
    • To be responsible for and hold oversight of UKRI/EPSRC policies, requirements and reporting.
    • To ensure effective communication and champion the EPSRC DRIVE-Health CDT across the partnership as a whole as well as within relevant King's Faculties, to ensure maximum awareness of the CDT with relevant academics and departments.
    • With expert support from the Post -award Studentships team, to plan and manage the CDT's budgets, including analysing and preparing financial and written reports as required for funding bodies, senior management and external stakeholders, making recommendations to the CDT Core Management team on budget implications of decisions.
    • To provide high-quality advice on the annual allocation of studentships.
    • To organise and implement effective student and studentship management processes, including recruitment, applications for suspensions, extensions and other student progress related changes, working in collaboration with supervisors, Registry Services, Centre for Doctoral Studies, and the CDT Director.
    • To oversee the administrative team, including Communications and Engagement Officer, and CDT Administrator. To ensure that the work of the team is performed to the required standard.
    • To undertake continuous personal and professional development, and to support it for administrative staff, through effective use of the university's Performance Development Review scheme and staff development opportunities.
    • To undertake any other duties that might be reasonably requested by the CDT Directors and the Associate Director (Doctoral Partnerships), who line manage this role.

    Skills, knowledge, and experience

    Essential criteria

    Education/qualification and training

    1. First degree or other appropriate qualifications;

    Skills and Knowledge

    1. Strong management skills (people and projects), with a good appreciation for business and management tools (business planning, marketing, operational and organisational processes and systems, budgetary control)
    2. Good understanding of postgraduate training and funding issues and management of postgraduate education, e.g. UKRI scholarships.
    3. Excellent organisational and time management skills, including a flexible approach to managing a constant and varied portfolio of requests; able to meet multiple fixed deadlines
    4. Excellent oral and written communication skills
    5. Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels, with both internal/external stakeholders
    6. Familiarity with Higher Education administration

    Experience

    1. Experience and confidence in handling multiple, complex budgets - excellent analytical and numeracy skills
    2. Substantial experience in project management and implementation, including report-writing, preferably in an academic environment;
    3. Experience of effectively using various online systems, as required for the role
