Kent College is a co-educational school with a Methodist foundation. The school is located in Canterbury, just one hour from the centre of London by train. The Senior School (11 – 18 years) has some 600 pupils, approximately one-third boarding and two-thirds day, and a thriving Junior School and nursery. Uniquely in the local market the school is also lucky to have its own small farm on a combined campus of over eighty acres. To support the school's recent growth and future ambitions, we are keen to identify an outstanding Bursar and Clerk to the Governors with significant financial, commercial, leadership skills and experience who will partner with the Head and the Governors in leading the next chapter of the school's development to expand and improve our estate, facilities and services to pupils, parents and staff, over the next 5 years and beyond.
The Bursar and Clerk to the Governor's role is a senior non-teaching leadership position in the school. With responsibility for Finance, IT, HR, Compliance, Company Secretarial, Estates, Facilities and Services, it is wide in scope and remit and both challenging and rewarding. We are therefore seeking an exceptional general manager with strong prior financial and commercial experience.
The successful candidate will be an individual of proven senior leadership ability, a strategic thinker and able to establish highly effective, collaborative working relationships with Governors and colleagues at all levels. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, exceptional financial acumen and robust commercial judgement will be essential.
Applicants will need to have a genuine interest in and empathy for education however prior school bursar experience is not a pre-requisite.
