Job Introduction
In the BBC Local Longform Investigations team, you will originate and deliver investigations and high impact stories across online, TV and radio. You will collaborate on commissions with colleagues across BBC Local and the wider BBC as appropriate. Primarily working with video, you will be required to reversion content across multiple platforms.
If the answer is yes to the above then working on the BBC Local Longform team could be the next role for you, bringing investigations and high impact stories to large regional audiences across online, TV and radio.
Main Responsibilities
You will work with the team to generate ideas and stories; contributing to creative treatments and supporting the pitching of investigative story ideas for online, TV and radio. You will demonstrate innovation, a desire and determination to tell untold stories and a passion for original journalism that appeals to our diverse audiences across all our platforms.
You will carry out in-depth background/subject research, ensuring complete accuracy and critically evaluating the relevance and suitability of information.
You will identify and select stories in a way which demonstrates strong journalistic skills and editorial judgement, applying appropriate legal knowledge and sensitivity to the subject matter and all parties engaged in the editorial process.
You will help the creative and journalistic process to deliver compelling content from a range of sources, supporting the production team before, during and after transmission and publication.
Are you the right person?
People are at the heart of our journalism. We aim to tell stories with impact that make a difference to the lives of our audience. We are looking for someone with strong storytelling skills with experience supporting senior online, television or radio production staff in the delivery of high-impact content.
About the BBC
The BBC is committed to redeploying employees seeking suitable alternative employment within the BBC for different reasons and they will be given priority consideration ahead of other applicants. Priority consideration means for those employees seeking redeployment their application will be considered alongside anyone else at risk of redundancy, prior to any individuals being considered who are not at risk.
We don't focus simply on what we do – we also care how we do it. Our values and the way we behave are important to us. Please make sure you've read about our values and behaviours here.
Diversity matters at the BBC. We have a working environment where we value and respect every individual's unique contribution, enabling all of our employees to thrive and achieve their full potential.
We want to attract the broadest range of talented people to be part of the BBC – whether that's to contribute to our programming or our wide range of non-production roles. The more diverse our workforce, the better able we are to respond to and reflect our audiences in all their diversity.
We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from individuals, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, socio-economic background, religion and/or belief. We will consider flexible working requests for all roles, unless operational requirements prevent otherwise.
