    Job Opening: Associate Mechanical Engineer

    FHP is seeking to appoint an Associate Mechanical Engineer into our Building Services Practice in London. This role offers a great opportunity for an experienced mechanical design engineer at Associate / Principal level to work on large-scale projects within a renowned consultancy.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Lead projects and manage key clients
    2. Assist the Director in tendering projects
    3. Manage the mechanical team
    4. Mentor mechanical engineers
    5. Undertake mechanical building services design
    6. Preparation of design calculations on industry standard software
    7. Represent FHP at meetings with clients and contractors
    8. Report writing
    9. Checking design calculations, drawings and specifications
    10. Preparing drawings for drafting by our in-house CAD team
    11. Site surveys and inspections
    12. Ensure mechanical design quality is maintained
    13. Input to and maintain set budgets for implementation of design elements
    14. Raise RFI's during mechanical design development
    15. Manage production of standard mechanical details/specifications
    16. Resource management across the mechanical package
    17. Strategic technical direction to the mechanical team
    18. Technical responsibility for quality associated with mechanical deliverables
    19. Review of all mechanical submissions

    Requirements:

    Minimum BEng or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related subject/suitable equivalent experience. Exceptional skill and knowledge of working in a design consultancy - experience of working within a contractor environment is additionally welcome. Significant experience in the production of the Mechanical design across all RIBA Stages 0 to 7. High level of technical skill in mechanical building services is essential. Good level of computer literacy in Windows, Hevacomp, Amtech, IES, NES and Microsoft packages - an understanding of AutoCAD/Revit is beneficial. Capable of accurate work under pressure and able to work on several projects simultaneously. Able to understand and express technical concepts in written and verbal language. Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients is essential. Be willing to be mobile, travel within the UK and abroad for project-related work.
