    Description

    Job Summary

    The Strategic Estates team oversees the management of the Parliamentary Estate, providing support and services to the House of Commons and the House of Lords. Their responsibilities include construction projects, planning and design support, and the preservation of heritage collections. They also offer central business support functions and manage administrative resources within other teams.

    The Strategic Estates Portfolio Management Office (SEPMO) aids the House's business by supporting estates projects and programs for both Houses. They provide change and engagement support, schedule management, risk management, resource management, portfolio analysis, reporting, and wider portfolio management services.

    Job Description

    This position is an excellent opportunity to join the Strategic Estates Portfolio Management Office (SE PMO) as the Head of Portfolio Risk. You will focus on enhancing risk maturity across the project portfolio by standardizing risk management approaches, improving risk data management, developing advanced risk reporting tools, and guiding project teams on the risk process.

    Responsibilities for this role include:

    • Leading and implementing industry best practice risk management tools, techniques, processes, and standards for the SE PMO, focusing on improving risk maturity across Property and Asset Strategy and Project Delivery portfolios.
    • Facilitating monthly risk assurance activities, engaging with project teams to monitor portfolio risk profile changes and trends, and advising on enhancing risk data quality.
    • Providing risk leadership and guidance to the project risk management community on risk assurance, process, and governance matters.

    Person Specification

    To succeed in this role, you should demonstrate:

    • Experience in risk management, including identification, assessment, management, tracking, and reporting in a complex portfolio, program, or project environment.
    • Skills in managing and developing processes with consistency and attention to detail, preferably in a portfolio, program, or project management setting.
    • Strong organizational skills, adaptability to changing priorities, ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and achieve targets.
    • Proven experience in collaborating with diverse stakeholders, upholding values of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
    • Building trusted relationships in high-pressure environments and simplifying complex information effectively for decision-making.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for facilitating discussions, creating internal communication materials, and ensuring risks are understood by stakeholders.
    • Identifying, building, and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders, promoting diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities.
    • Integrating information from various sources for a high-level portfolio view, strategic thinking, and managing risks and uncertainties.
