    Description

    Allen Lane are supporting a Local Authority in their find for a Senior Committee Officer who will report to the Democratic Services Team Leader.

    The ideal candiate will have experience in local elections and postal vote. This is for a 3-6 month contract and paying a competively daily rate.

    To service designated meetings of Council, the Executive, Committees, other Member meetings and other bodies as required and undertaker the necessary administrative work that supports the democratic process.

    Organising and recording Council, Committee and various working party meetings as allocated, including preparation of agendas, reports and minutes and taking follow up action.

    Advising elected members and officers of the Council, members of outside bodies etc on the Council's Constitution and other procedural issues.

    Providing support to elected members, officers etc.
    Undertaking other tasks as allocated, e.g, , appointments to outside bodies, maintaining the Council's Constitution, etc.

    Initiate and respond to correspondence and prepare responses for the signature of the appropriate Executive member or Chair of Committee, or senior officer.

    This correspondence is often of a complex and sensitive nature.
    Conduct high level research and prepare briefing notes or reports as required.

    Contribute to the development of Team Plans and individual objectives, supporting the team leader in developing the democratic serviceDeputising for the Team Leader as requiredCreate, develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and external contacts, to enhance the performance of the service and the Council as a whole.

    Carry out elections duties as directed by the Democratic and elections manager in supporting the Returning Officer.
