    Job Summary

    Are you a caring Occupational Therapist with a strong interest in mental health?

    We have a great opportunity for a Band 6 Mental Health Occupational Therapist to join our wonderful trust.

    We are looking for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to be part of the team at Cherrywood Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit, a 7-bed unit that provides short-term residential rehabilitation to help individuals regain confidence and skills for independent living. This role offers a chance to work in a supportive and dynamic environment, contributing to the recovery and independence of individuals.

    Main Duties of the Job

    This position is an excellent opportunity to enhance clinical leadership skills and grow personally and professionally in a highly supportive setting. It involves various competencies outlined in the AFC Knowledge and Skills framework, offering development opportunities in mental health practice. We are looking for a motivated team player with great communication skills who is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

    Job Description

    Job Responsibilities

    The post holder will assess patient needs, develop, implement, and evaluate Occupational Therapy treatment plans, and act as a clinical team leader. They will be responsible for planning therapeutic activities for patients in a rehabilitation setting, as well as educating and supervising staff, students, patients, and relatives.

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
    • Health Professional Council Registered Occupational Therapist

    Desirable

    • Student supervision/mentoring qualification

      • Experience

      Essential

      • Demonstrated experience as a band 5 Occupational Therapist
      • Varied clinical approaches and specialist skills
      • Established core skills in assessment, treatment, and evaluation
      • Competence in providing short-term individual and group treatments

      Knowledge

      Essential

      • Thorough knowledge of care models and professional approaches
      • Good understanding of Mental Health Act and Processes

      Skills

      Essential

      • Strong problem-solving abilities
      • Ability to lead service provision
      • Proficient in using standardized assessments

      Personal Disposition

      Essential

      • Commitment to maintaining quality work
      • Willingness to travel for work requirements
      • Valid driver's license for unit vehicle
