Progress OpenEdge Developer

Vertu Motors is one of the largest automotive retailers in the UK. Our OpenEdge systems drive the core of the business and as such the work is diverse, challenging and rewarding. Our growing Vertu Technology team takes requirements from stakeholders across the business and work to deliver solutions that are efficient and performant to meet the brief.

We are looking for a good team player with excellent communication and technical skills to join us. Projects are completed either in smaller teams or as individual projects. Additionally, developers are expected to provide support to the business for existing functionality.

Our OpenEdge developers work predominantly from home with occasional travel to head office or dealership locations expected. As a result, good time management skills and initiative taking are essential as well as the ability to communicate well with remote working applications such as Microsoft Teams and Email. This is a full-time role and the salary is up to £45,000.

We don't have a monopoly on the best answers to the questions the business throw at us, so we would welcome a motivated individual who is willing to give their input into the challenges of providing high quality projects to the business.

Required Skills

• Proven track record of experience of developing in OpenEdge 11
• A good understanding of databases
• Knowledge of good coding practise including efficient code writing
• Ability to work under own initiative
• Ability to deliver complex projects within time constraints
• Ability to work in a team of remote workers
• Ability to liaise with non-technical stakeholders across the business

Desirable Skills

• Experience of developing Webspeed applications
• Experience of using Developer Studio
• Experience with OpenEdge 12 onwards
• API Integration experience
• Object Oriented programming
• Experience of working from home
• Linux knowledge
