    Position Summary

    We are seeking to hire a Senior Claims Technical Specialist. This role can be based out of our London or Manchester office.

    The role will focus mainly on high complexity Property Claims with some responsibility for Energy & Power claims. Recognised as a technical expert in their field. Reporting to Claims Manager and wider Claims Leadership, works within assigned limits of broad authority on assignments requiring a high degree of technical complexity and coordination.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Managing a portfolio of high value and high complexity claims, determining coverages, setting timely and accurate reserves and ensuring appropriate escalation within the business.
    • Working closely with the Claims and Commercial Leadership to promote the CNA claims brand in the Property, Energy & power markets.
    • Assisting the Claims Manager with team training, supervision, guidance and mentoring to less experienced claims staff and other functional areas.
    • Negotiating highly complex settlement packages, and authorising payment within scope of authority, settling claims in most cost effective and timely manner.
    • Advising the wider business on anticipated claims trends.
    • Contributing to business planning and able to articulate and support the UW strategy for respective business unit.
    • Actively participating in wider claims strategic initiatives.

    Skills, Knowledge & Experience

    • Minimum 5 years' experience of handling high value property claims.
    • Any exposure to Power and/or Energy claims would be beneficial.
    • Confident delivering the claims proposition and ability to promote the CNA Hardy brand.
    • Recognised as a leader by his/her class of business peer group.
    • Advanced technical and product specific expertise, claims resolution skill and knowledge of insurance and claims principles, practices and procedures.
    • Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels internal and external business partners.
    • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects.
    • Ability to adapt to change and value diverse opinions and ideas.
    • Ability to mentor more junior members of the team, handling referrals
    • Ability to evaluate claims based on a cost benefit analysis.
    • Ability to fully comprehend complex claim facts and issues; and to further articulate analyses of claims in presentations to business partners and management as well as in internal reports.
    • Ability to implement strategies with a proactive long-term view of business goals and objectives.
    • Appropriate knowledge of all relevant regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the position
