    The Team

    This team are experienced professionals who work closely with our UK business teams and are critical in helping to ensure that our products and the related policy documentation reflect our underwriting intention and meets regulatory compliance. This role will provide the opportunity to gain experience within a breadth of Speciality, Professions, Commercial and Personal Lines products and across direct, broker and e-trade channels.

    There is also opportunity to be involved in other business, legal and regulatory projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, which gives the role holder the variety and opportunity for continuous learning and development.

    The Role

  • Development and implementation of new wordings, coverage enhancements and endorsements for Commercial and Personal lines
  • Working closely with our UK business teams (including Underwriters, Claims, Compliance & Conduct) to provide legal support to the development and maintenance of new and existing insurance products and services; and assist in the drafting and review of a range of customer documentation including marketing materials, on-line quote & buy journeys, policy wordings and associated policy documentation ensuring compliance with applicable legislation
  • Approval of terms and conditions, ancillary policy documentation and marketing communications
  • Assisting the Compliance, Conduct and Claims teams with related product queries
  • Providing ad hoc legal advisory support

    • Our must-haves

  • Qualified Lawyer or Wordings Specialist preferably with a background in the insurance industry either in-house or at a law firm.
  • Experience of reviewing insurance policy wordings & marketing materials and legal advisory support.
  • Knowledge and awareness of key issues and developments within insurance & contract law and financial services regulation (experience within data protection law and competition law is also desirable although not essential).
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong drafting skills working both with and without reference to precedents.
  • Strong ability to establish rapport and build relationships with internal clients.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to demonstrate an awareness of existing and future challenges and opportunities by staying abreast of market and regulatory developments.
  • Capable of spanning across a broad range of business areas and teams.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, challenging and exciting environment.
