    Default job background
    Description

Arc Partnership is a joint venture between Nottinghamshire County Council and SCAPE, formed in 2016 to support the council in creating an efficient, safe, and sustainable land and property portfolio.

We deliver multi-disciplinary services and consult, design, build, manage and maintain on behalf of the council and the communities and people it represents. We provide value for money, quality of output, and customer excellence to support regeneration and economic growth, for Nottinghamshire and beyond.

We believe in creating meaningful change, and since 2016, we've been a strategic partner for Nottinghamshire County Council.

We're looking for a Structural Services Manager to join our Design Team and create a real impact by leading, developing, and promoting a high-quality structural and civil engineering design service for all programmes of work.

    Your new role:

    • Leading in structural and civil engineering design, the management of external consultants, including scope and appointments through appropriate framework procurement routes, and the review of incoming third-party information to ensure coordinated and well resolved integration of design information, that protects the design and client's brief.
    • Responsible for managing a small team, ensuring team members work effectively towards the successful delivery of projects.
    • Providing specialist advice to range of stakeholders such as colleagues, partners, and clients.
    • Managing and conducting inspection visits to properties to collect condition survey data, reviewing compliance of assets and escalating non-compliance as appropriate.
    • Leading and contributing to the implementation of a robust approach to quality management systems (QMS), such as the development of office and practice standards and RIBA Plan of Work stages.
    • Responsible for the technical development of internal protocol and procedures to continually improve the day-to-day workings.
    • Lead and assist as appropriate in attending client meetings to support the Head of Design in identifying and interpreting key needs and requirements, translating these into formal scopes for design teams.
    • Leading the compilation of technical reports and essential documentation for bids and expressions of interest.

    What you'll bring:

We're looking for people who want to drive change and make a significant difference by contributing to the aims of our diverse and inclusive organisation. In addition, you will ideally have:

    • Effective management leadership and mentoring skills.
    • Degree in Civil Engineering (BSc) or MSc Structural Engineering and a professional membership with the IStructE or Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) - with or working towards Chartered Engineer status.
    • Knowledge of emerging technologies and processes, such as Building Information Modelling (BIM) and its application in the design, delivery, and lifecycle of a project.
    • Well-developed interpersonal and collaboration skills with an ability to build rapport in project teams and provide excellent customer service.
    • Knowledge of all current building regulations and planning control processes.
    • Technical expertise in the preparation of structural and civil engineering designs, drawings, and condition surveys.
    • Effective team player skills to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams.
    • Knowledge and proficiency in spatial coordination, technical design, NBS specification writing.
    • Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to use own initiative to plan and prioritise workloads.
    • Meticulous attention to detail with analytical approach to problem solving.
    • You'll have a basic understanding of sustainability in the workplace and be committed to support the business with its carbon reduction strategy.

    We can offer you:

    • A competitive salary depending on experience.
    • Local Government Pension Scheme including generous employer contributions and life assurance of 3x salary.
    • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays and additional birthday leave.
    • We currently offer BUPA private medical insurance.
    • Exposure to a wide range of projects and development opportunities.
