There is an exciting opportunity for a senior, experienced nurse to work as a Band 7 Clinical Manager for 37.5 hours per week in a 6-month temporary role to manage our High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Management of the HDU nursing teamManagement of datix and the investigation of clinical incidents
Promoting psychological safety and a safety culture within HDU
Managing and mitigation of HDU risks, including action planning
To support quality improvement projects on HDU
To support the PCCU Lead Nurse and Band 7 PCCU team to improve patient safety and quality of care
To manage the specialist ward/unit, ensuring the quality of care provision to children, using unit protocols and Trust policies and guidelines.
To be responsible for, and to carry out the assessment, planning and implementation of programmes of care providing support , guidance and leadership for junior members of staff in their care delivery.
To be responsible for the professional development of a team of staff identifying objectives to ensure individual action plans are met.

To communicate and liaise effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team, both verbally and in writing.
Persuade patients and families to co-operate with treatment for their well-being, effectively deal with anxious relatives.
Ensure parents/carers and the child (when appropriate), have the opportunity to agree and/or negotiate care.
Communicate and liaise with other departments/ wards in the hospital to provide support and advice on resource management and professional nursing issues (as 524 bleep holder).
Communicate effectively with the Clinical Nurse Educator on the ward to manage the professional education of all staff and students within the team and develop nursing practice within evidence-based practice.

RN Child (RSCN)
Diploma level post basic nursing qualification in relevant field
Relevant or significant experience in paediatric nursing with at least two years at Band 6 or above
