    Our Financial Services practice is an important part of our wider business at Mazars. With over 35 FS partners and 300 specialist staff in the UK, our growing team provides tailored services to asset management, banking, insurance and real estate clients. Tax is an integral part of these services. What draws us together is a shared passion for using our FS industry experience and deep service line knowledge to provide bespoke client advice.

    You will work with a variety of clients across start-up, specialist mid-sized and established multinational clients as well as across the breadth of subsectors – including fintechs, banks, capital market participants, securities dealers, general and life insurers, Lloyds insurers, insurance brokers, funds and fund managers. We operate as an integrated team, which provides opportunities to get involved and gain experience in all these areas, in addition to your primary focus in either Banking or Insurance.

Tax remains high on the agenda for our FS clients with ongoing geo-political change and significant tax, regulatory and accounting reforms impacting all sectors.     Role & Responsibilities

    The primary focus of the role will be to manage the team in providing tax advisory, tax compliance and tax audit services. This will be built upon a deep understanding of our client's businesses and the subsectors in which they operate. You will work closely with the Partner and Director team to develop strong client relationships, lead tax engagements and deliver high quality tax services – including coordination with indirect tax, employment tax and governance specialists. Specifically, you will:

  • Support the management of client relationships and engagements
  • Understand our client's businesses and help identify new opportunities
  • Support broader business development activity and build a referral network
  • Develop strong Banking or Insurance sector understanding and technical issues on the full range of client matters
  • Undertake research, draft written opinions, support cross-border and/or cross-functional advice and tax audit support
  • Manage the delivery of client work with high-quality and profitable outcomes
  • Coach junior team members, with appraisal management responsibilities if desired
  • Work collaboratively across the Partner, Director and Senior Manager group
  • Contribute positively to the work environment and well-being of the team

    • Skills, Experience & Knowledge

    We are seeking people who are keen to work in a collaborative team environment and develop their project management experience, technical skills and commercial acumen. The role will suit someone comfortable in building relationships, sharing knowledge and delivering technical excellence. Specific requirements:

  • Qualified at ACA, CTA or equivalent level (eg, legal/HMRC/international)
  • Keen interest in and emerging UK industry and tax knowledge with some knowledge of ither the banking or insurance sector specifically being desirable
  • Good awareness of broader tax, international tax, regulatory and accounting areas
  • Able to research, analyse and interpret complex matters to resolve client issues
  • Able to manage projects, meet deadlines and manage the financial impacts
  • Good at building effective relationships with clients
  • Some experience of identifying opportunities for business development
  • Good people management, team management and communication (oral & written)
  • Adaptable and organised with a commercial approach
