Description
Due to confirmation and development of a new Respiratory Support Unit (RSU) on ward 20, we are expanding the Band 6 team.
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated nurses with clinical experience within respiratory nursing including and managing patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions experiencing an acute exacerbation of symptoms.
The RSU is a 28 bedded acute Respiratory ward providing level 2 care for respiratory patients, requiring a high level of respiratory support including NIV, long term ventilation, tracheostomy care,high flow and/or close monitoring.
You will be able to demonstrate excellent clinical skills in respiratory nursing care and have a passion for this specialty
The successful candidate will support the Band 7 Ward Manager to lead a team of staff to provide a high quality service ensuring excellent standards of patient care are delivered and maintained.
Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of a program of evidence-based nursing care to a group of patients.
Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing care.Actively contribute to the improvement of services and the quality of care provision to meet the needs of patients, service users and their families.
Act as a role model, mentoring, teaching, assessing and supporting students and learners on placement and participate in the education, development and mentorship of other stafOur new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years

Ensure that the delivery of care to own patients and for all patients when in charge meet the standards determined by the Ward/Unit Manager and the Standards for Better Health.
Share responsibility with the Ward/Unit Manager to ensure that the highest standards of infection prevention and control are practiced at all times.
Contribute to the development of RSU, CMG and Trust policies, procedures and clinical guidelines and ensure compliance of self and others.
Take due regard of the importance of the effect and consequence of the ward/care environment with regard to its physical, psychological and social effects on patients and care delivery.
Ensure that self and team members act at all times to provide a personalised service to patients in accordance with agreed standards and promote quality, diversity and rights.
Contribute to setting, maintaining and monitoring of standards of care to the optimum level and lead the improvement of care, through benchmarking, audit and researchTraining & Qualifications
Evidence of being involved in developments in Clinical Practice ie change management, QI projects
suitable post registration experience in care of respiratory patients
Development of multi-disciplinary working practices Demonstrates experience of clinical risk management
Acts as a Clinical Role model and as a Mentor, Assessor and Support for learners within the ward or unit
