    Job summary

    Caring, dedicated healthcare Assistant/Phlebotomist required to join our friendly team at Preston Park Surgery. Located in the Preston park area of Brighton, you will play a crucial role in delivering high quality patient care, working alongside a group of dedicated skilled professionals in a supportive environment.

    Main duties of the job

    Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude:

    ECG recording

    Blood Tests

    Urine tests

    Ear irrigation

    Blood Pressure Checks

    Diabetic foot checks

    Pre Diabetes consultations

    24 hour BP Monitor Fit

    NHS Health Checks

    Basic Dressings

    Suture Removal

    Assist with minor surgery (ocassionally)

    Chaperoning duties

    Ordering medical supplies / dressing supplies /medications fordrug cupboard

    Ordering Immunisations (Child/ Adult/ Travel) / stock rotation/ maintaining cold chain

    Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before,during and after patient care interventions.

    Notifying the GPs/Practice Nurse of any significant patientissues

    Administration of the following injections/vaccines

    B12

    Pneumococcal

    Shingles

    Seasonal Flu injections and intranasal

    Ensure Infection Prevention Control measures are maintained atall times

    We are a friendly, well established and successful GP practice located in the Preston Park area of Brighton within easy reach of the wonderful Sussex countryside.

    You will be joining a supportive practice with a cohesive, stable and dynamic team and at the same time enjoy a genuine professional and personal work life balance.

    A team of 9 GP partners, 2 Salaried GPs and an extended Clinical Team of 1 Nurse Practitioner, 2 Practice Nurses, 2 HCAs, 2 Clinical Pharmacists and a Pharmacy technician.

    Patient list size of 12,250 patients and growing

    Well Organised with strong admin and management support

    System One clinical system

    Close knit practice with regular social events.

    Job description

    Job responsibilities

    Job Summary:

    The Healthcare Assistant/Phlebotomist will assist the Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care, work strictly in accordance with Practice protocols & guidelines.

    The HCA will maintain accurate and up to date patient records

    Duties and Responsibilities include:

    ECG recording

    Blood Tests

    Confidentiality:

  • In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will respect their privacy and act appropriately
  • In the performance of the duties outlined in this Job Description, the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, Practice staff and other healthcare workers. They may also have access to information relating to the Practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential
  • Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the Practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the Practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data

    The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others health, safety and security as defined in the Practice Health & Safety Policy, to include:

  • Using personal security systems within the workplace according to Practice guidelines
  • Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks
  • Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills
  • Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards
  • Reporting potential risks identified
