    About the Team

    The GSMA Innovation Fund team was established in March 2020 and have the responsibility of planning and executing all Innovation Fund rounds on behalf of the GSMA Mobile for Development (M4D) programme. Leveraging on 10 years of M4D experience running Innovation Funds on a multitude of topics, the team are responsible for setting up the processes and managing all rounds from design to grantee selection to grant completion and post grant follow up. This is done in collaboration with the relevant subject matter experts within GSMA as determined by the thematic focus of the funding round. The GSMA Innovation Fund teams' mission is to be a centre of excellence that will ensure M4D continues to support local entrepreneurship and digital innovation through grant funding and technical assistance. This is a skilled and diverse team represented in UK, Kenya, Indonesia, and Pakistan.

    About the Role

    The role reports to the Operations Manager and the Senior Operations Manager and is matrixed into the GSMA Innovation Fund for day-to-day activities. This role is critical to ensuring the Innovation Fund's new grant management platform (operating on Fluxx) is developed and designed to effectively manage the complete grant life cycle of multiple funding rounds running simultaneously. You are expected to be a point of contact to our grant management platform supplier and work collaboratively with the GSMA IT team and the Innovation Fund operations team to resolve issues and build the platform to suit our needs.

    As a Grant Management Platform Specialist for the GSMA Innovation Fund team, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and evolution of the GSMA Innovation Fund grant management platform. This includes the build of new functionalities, addressing feedback on a rolling basis and improving our platform processes.
  • Oversee all active funding Innovation Fund Rounds on the platform and highlight any risks and challenges grantees are facing.
  • Manage the risks and issues that emerge from the platform and escalate where required to Operations and Senior Operations Manager. Support the team in creating resolution and mitigation plans
  • Manage the relationship with the supplier, ensuring outsourced development is delivered on time and to a high standard
  • Work closely with the operations team to ensure changes to functionalities and process on the platform are documented in a clear and concise manner
  • Work closely with the operations team to ensure processes are adopted by the wider team
  • Work closely with the GSMA IT team to explore any needed integrations
  • About You

    The ideal candidate will display the following skills and qualifications:

    Hard skills

  • Demonstrable IT and platform development skills ideally in Fluxx
  • Proven experience managing grant management web platforms or similar IT solutions
  • Proven experience of managing complex projects and managing a range of stakeholders
  • Strong escalation management skills, to ensure that issues receive attention and mitigation support from senior stakeholders
  • Desirable – experience using and developing platforms on Fluxx
  • Soft skills

  • Demonstrable emotional intelligence skills and influencing skills
  • Strong ability to drive collaboration between various departments to drive a common objective
  • Ability to receive and address feedback from a range of various stakeholder and manage priorities
  • Experience of working internationally and cross-cultural environments
