    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a caring, enthusiastic Band 6 Nurse to join the Nutrition Team on a 12 month secondment.

    We provide a service Monday-Friday 08:00-16:00. Experience with parenteral nutrition would be beneficial. You will need to enjoy working as part of a team, to use your own initiative and have excellent interpersonal skills as you will play an integral part in the delivery of high quality care to patients requiring artificial nutrition support. The multidisciplinary team consists of CNSs, Pharmacists, Dietitians and Drs who care for patients with Intestinal Failure receiving parenteral nutrition. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills, who will work well within the MDT.     Main duties of the job

    The postholder is responsible for the support of patients requiring parenteral nutrition (PN). They will have continuing responsibility for the assessment of needs, the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care and standard setting. They will provide specialist nursing care and advice to patients who require PN and will contribute to the development of the speciality service with cost effective use of resources.

    The post holder will work within the Nutrition Team to develop and support the service for patients who require inpatient and/or home PN.

    With support and training we expect the individual to provide advice, information and support to patients, carers, and staff regarding Parenteral Nutrition. We expect the individual to provide care for patients in line with Trust and Government strategies and targets. In collaboration with senior medical and nursing staff the post holder will assist in the support of research, audit, and quality assurance projects.

    Under the direction of Lead CNS/Lead Professional participates in or leads the development of specific elements of nursing practice, reflecting the CSU and Nursing Directorate business plans

    Participates in the setting, monitoring and improvement of standards and the quality of patient care, including those standards defined in the National Benchmarks for Essential Care
