    Advanced Practitioner Children with Disability - London, United Kingdom - Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

    Are you a nurse or allied health professional with an ACP qualification?
    Do you have cardiology paediatric experience/knowledge/skills, or would you like to develop this skill set further at ACP higher level of practice, across the 4 pillars?

    This is an amazing opportunity for an individual with an Advanced Clinical Practice qualification to develop their expert cardiac knowledge, clinical assessment, and case management, building on existing knowledge, experience and skills, at one of the top children's cardiac centres in England, caring for a wide range of children and young people with congenital and acquired heart disease.


    We are looking for passionate individuals, who place the child, young person, and their families with congenital and acquired heart disease, at the centre of their care, based on safe, highly quality, and effective care provision and the use of clinical care pathways.

    Provide direct expert clinical care to a designated case load of children & young people, in the Cardiology environment through developing skills for effective case management, handover, health assessment, specialist skills, consultation, clerking, initiation of treatment, formulation & alteration of treatment, monitoring of care programmes & pathways.

    Play developmental role in the evidenced based education of the multidisciplinary team & other health professionals using the knowledge, skills and experience of your clinical and academic learning.

    The Heart and Lung Directorate has its own dedicated Lead ACP and the trust have a dedicated GOSH ACP faculty on site, leading on academic and professional practice, across the 4 pillars of ACP practice, at a local and national level.

    Cardiology services are committed to a sustainable advanced clinical practitioner team, & best patient outcomes.

    We will support your individual development plans for the year ahead, and your future career plans, working with a named ACP and consultant cardiology supervisor.

    We will also develop with you, a robust and supportive orientation plan to the trust and scope of cardiology services.

    Academic/Professioal Qualification/Training
    Registered actively registered with the appropriate UK statutory regulatory body for your profession
    Ability and desire to take on skills training relevant to the role and clinical area
    Skills training relevant to the role ability & to complete a competency & capability-based skill document for paediatric cardiology, RCPCH
    Registered qualification as a non-medical prescriber (independent prescriber) & actively practicing

    Evidence of previous non medical radiology training or willing to do so
    Evidence of on-going, dynamic continuous professional development, with demonstrable clinical competencies, relevant to the area and role in Cardiology
    EPLS/ APLS training
    Advanced communication training, active listening skill training

    Thorough knowledge relevant to the specialty/ department / field of practice- Cardiology, congenital & acquired heart disease
    Thorough knowledge of professional & current issues in healthcare, ACP national and local agenda
    Knowledge of the importance of evidence-based practice & how quality improvement, audit & research improves care outcomes
    Safeguarding Children & adult procedures & responsibilities
    Knowledge of developing practice standards, clinical audit, benchmarking & clinical / quality improvement
    To be active in the training and development of trainee ACP, ACPs as well as medical and allied health professionals and those with interest in advanced skill development

    Relevant experience at a senior level in a children's healthcare environment
    Evidence of working with children / young people and families to improve patient experience
    Willingness to publish, building a personal portfolio
    Part of professional development groups
    Experience & evidence of sustaining change / quality improvement
    Using outcome measures & key performance indicators to demonstrate the quality & efficiency of clinical care

    Able to contribute to the development & implementation of the trust strategic Vision for Advanced Clinical Practice
    Excellent teaching and training skills
    Computer literate (word processing. Keeps a personal e-portfolio of professional practice
    Able to support personal resilience, emotional intelligence & realistic optimism and know where & when to seek additional guidance/ support
    A flexible approach to work
    Daily exposure to a wide range of physical, emotional & spiritual stressor, individual will need to have developed a robust professional support strategy & will be supported by the trust
