    The Team

    Embedded across the bank's eight lines of business, the formation of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Credit reflects how the bank helps fuel the global economy, build trust and credibility, and represent a company that people want to work for, invest in, and do business with. The ESG Credit team will support the continued growth in sustainable, renewable, and green finance and further deliver on the bank's commitment to help society transition to a low-carbon economy.

    Role Description

    Associates support the credit analysis and credit underwriting of the renewable finance transactions as well as monitoring of the portfolio. Transaction types include project finance debt, bridge financing, revolving debt facilities, and interest rate/FX hedging for non-recourse style transactions. Transactions are executed in solar, wind, and other renewables sectors.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform financial and credit analysis, risk rating analysis
    • Prepare and/or review transaction structures, stress scenarios, financial models
    • Review project documentation including engineer reports, terms and conditions
    • Prepare Credit Approval Memorandums for approval for new transactions, modifications, and renewals
    • Engage with various partners including GCIB Enterprise Credit Officers for recourse obligors, Enterprise Credit Risk, and Global Markets Risk
    • Provide input into internal governance forums, the drafting of policies and procedures, audits, and regulatory meetings
    • Assist in development of white papers for new sectors, technologies, business models and products, Understand regulatory environment
    • Coordinate periodic and/or ad hoc reporting such as quarterly portfolio reviews
    • Provide input into key projects/initiatives across the bank
    • Join in due diligence discussions with clients

    Additional responsibilities include managing analysts and the portfolio monitoring team work flow to ensure quality of work and timeliness of deliverables in support of the credit approval process. The successful candidate must be able to handle multiple projects, deliver high quality and timely results, and provide appropriate coaching and development to junior teammates.

    Requirements

    • BA/BSc degree required; Finance, Accounting or Engineering focus preferred
    • Relevant prior experience in financial services, including roles within credit risk management, structuring, trading, asset management, origination, rating agencies involving energy or power
    • Passion for renewable finance, motivation and desire to research and understand new technologies and business structures
    • Strong knowledge or capacity to learn the bank's credit processes and systems
    • Ability to establish partnerships across the organization with GSFG, Enterprise Credit Risk, and other support partner
    • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficiency with Bloomberg, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Willingness/desire to improve and/or streamline processes
