Project Management Graduate Programme - London, United Kingdom - Industry Placements

    Default job background
    Description
Project Management (Consultancy) – Defence –Graduate Programme - Plymouth

At Mace, we're global experts in shaping the built environment – helping to lead the way to a more connected, resilient and sustainable world.

From development and consultancy, to construction and operations, we connect expertise across the entire property lifecycle to help our clients, people, communities and society achieve more than they believe is possible.

This role starts in early September 2024 , and is based in Plymouth on a project site in the Defence sector within our Consult engine.

Vital to protecting the nation, defence and security projects require a forward-looking and knowledgeable delivery team to lead the way.

At Mace, we're a trusted ally to the UK sector, and act as an agile partner to deliver complex property and infrastructure programmes across the defence estate.

We work with international governments, police forces, court houses, military institutes and nuclear establishments.

We support defence across the globe - from the Royal Navy to the British Army and Royal Air Force - helping these crucial institutions to both grow and serve.

We deliver embassies, airports, research and data centres, working at the forefront of major programmes in highly secure locations.

And we often work on projects while they are still in operation – like our recent work upgrading facilities used by service personnel and their families, as delivery partner for the Defence Infrastructure Organisation.

In our Consult engine, you'll be part of a global think tank where innovation and sustainability take the lead.

We collaborate closely with clients to understand their individual challenges, lending new ideas and fresh thinking to make strategic decisions and shape project directions.

Whilst we visit projects and sites, Consult is more about delivery of creative solutions than hardhats.

In Project Management (Consultancy), you will support projects to deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost, and quality requirements, coordinating with all relevant parties to understand and deliver project objectives set out in the project plans.

Working with the project team to assist in the delivery of the project objectives in line with the Project Plan
Monitoring and actively engaging in relevant Health, Safety and Wellbeing standards aspects of the project at all stages
Assisting in the preparation and modifications of the project plans and keeping them updated and relevant over the course of the project(s)
Collaborating with relevant parties/stakeholders and ensuring robust quality systems are suitably managed and monitored in line with Service Excellence
Attending and recording relevant meetings, providing relevant parties with contextual information and analysis, including regular site walks
Partnering with relevant stakeholders and being actively involved in risk management and mitigation treatments
Assisting in tracking project changes and ensuring they are processed and formalised within the agreed timeframes
Understanding the business' priorities through Construction to Production, Digital & Data and Responsible Business
Supporting the project and programme management team activities relating to external/third-party client appointments
Conducting research, analysis, record-keeping and other supporting activities to ensure timely and accurate information to contribute to delivery of project management operation
Identifying solutions to issues that are generally defined (but not always immediately evident) and require problem-solving

Depending on your existing qualifications and your career goals, options include the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) , the Association of Project Management (APM) , the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) , or the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) .

When you start your journey with us, you'll get structured on-the-job training and real responsibility, right from the get-go.

We have delivered iconic projects in the UK such as The Shard, the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Heathrow Terminal 5, Birmingham New Street, the Tate Modern Extension and the Emirates A1Airline.

And we are currently working on impressive projects such as the Battersea Power Station, Shard Place, Greenwich Peninsula and Manchester Town Hall.

Internationally we are delivering projects such as the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, the One Za'abeel towers and Expo 2020 in Dubai.
