    Description


    We are looking for an experienced and responsible Health and Safety Coordinator to assist the Health and Safety Manager in ensuring our client's obligations towards health and safety are met.

    You will support the health and Safety Manager in the implementation of new and existing legislation and internal procedures.

    As the Health and Safety Coordinator you will have excellent communication skills both verbal and written, this is key to this exciting opportunity.

    In your role as Health and Safety Coordinator, you will also help to support managers to achieve safe working conditions, legal compliance and the development of an effective health and safety culture.


    Key responsibilities:


    Assisting the Health and Safety Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining the Group health and safety policies, procedures, and safe systems of work to ensure compliance with the relevant legislation and guidanceAssist the Health and Safety Manager with accident and near-miss investigations as required to ensure the root cause is established and any necessary preventative actions are in place to prevent a recurrence of the incidentAssist the Health and Safety Manager in monitoring and driving implementation of corrective and preventative actions arising from health and safety activities including accident investigations, risk assessments and safety audits to ensure the recommended control measures are in placeAssist in monitoring health and safety performance across the organisation to support continuous improvementTo assist in the preparation of any necessary health and safety reports to ensure stakeholders have the relevant information on timeSupporting managers in bringing contractors on site by reviewing and providing advice on contractor's documentation before work commences to ensure work is carried out in a safe mannerDelivering basic health and safety and fire training when requiredMaintain and update records of safety audits, plans, and reportsMaintain and update accident and near-miss databaseAssist in the organisation of the company's annual health screening programmeCollate and file safety documentation relating to each of the sitesRun regular reports to pick up and identify any outstanding actionsCheck if all the employees are acting in adherence to rules and regulationsAttend Health & Safety Committee Meetings as and when requiredTake responsibility for your own personal and professional development, including CPD where appropriateFacilitate first aid, fire, and mental health first aid training and knowledge sharing across all sitesOffer a flexible approach to working hours to meet the needs of the organisationThe employee may on occasions be called upon to undertake work in other locations within the group to ensure legal health and safety obligations are fulfilledComply with Health & Safety requirements and be aware of and adhere to current policies and proceduresAny other duty as required by the Health & Safety Manager commensurate with the postEssential Skills and Expertise:The ability to investigate accidents and near misses to determine root causes and provide suitable reports and recommendationsThe ability to create reports to communicate a range of informationBe able to review and critique various types of health and safety documentation and provide effective feedbackThe ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingTo know about health and safety management systems, particularly those based on HSG 65 Successful Health and safety managementTo have Excellent knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practicesTo be a critical thinker with excellent problem-solving skillsMicrosoft: Excel, Word, and PowerPointGeneral & Specialist KnowledgeUnderstanding working in busy manufacturing FPCG/food manufacturing and large warehousing settings would be a distinct advantageEducation & TrainingWill have achieved a level 3 Health and Safety qualification e.g.

    NEBOSH General CertificateBe a member of IOSH at least Grad IOSHHave a minimum of 3-5 years experience in a similar roleCurrent First Aid certificate Full driving license or access to transport
