Here at Campden BRI, we are well known for being the leader onthermal processing within the food & drink sector. Our ProcessInnovation Team supports our members and clients with consultancy,project work and training activities in the thermal processing area-which focused on heating food, including process development,validation, and optimisation. This encompasses heating (e.g. cooking,pasteurisation and sterilisation) and cooling (chilling and freezing)processes.

There may be opportunities totravel with this role as the team travel to our members to conductprocess validation trials- UK, Europe and Globally Expenses paid worktrips across the globe, recent trips include- Turkey, Iceland, Jamacia,South Africa, Italy, and Spain. You will be working on a range ofdifferent food & drink manufacturing sectors, growing your skillsand knowledge

We are looking for aChemical Engineer t o lead researchactivity in the process innovation team and support with validation andconsultancy contract work, utilising specialist skills such as heat transfercalculations and mathematical modelling.

Position

Project managing research and development activitieswithin the area of food and beverage processing (thermal & nonthermal). Projectwill likely require skills such as engineering calculations, mathematical modelling,coding etc.
Planning and managing own contract project workactivities to meet project deadlines such as validation or consultancy projects,involving some travel to client sites in the UK and abroad.
Responsible for the business development of researchand contract work building client relationships, preparing/reviewing quotes.
Design and provisionof training courses and presentations on external/internal training courses,seminars and symposia.
Responding to direct technicalenquiries and requests for processing advice.

Requirements

Degreeor equivalent in process/chemical engineering (a food industry slant would beadvantageous). Other engineering or scientific degrees would be considered.
Postgraduate qualification such as Masters or PHD in relevant subject, and/or severalyears work experience in relevant role.
Anawareness of the importance of heat processing in the food industry.
Strongand proven, capabilities in process calculations, particularly around heat andenergy transfer (ideally some experience using the finite element method).
Codingexperience in Python and/or MATLAB to facilitate process calculations.
Experienceusing CFD software (for example COMSOL).
Timemanagement and financial awareness to facilitate effective project management.
Full UK/EU driving licence and eligibility tolive/work in the UK. Ability to travel within the UK and beyond.
Computerliterate: MS Office (particularly Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
