    Senior Software Developer & Team Lead

    Franchise Brands

    Location – Milton Keynes

    Full time permanent

    Salary £40 - 45K DOE + benefits

    We are looking for an experienced Software Developer for our business, Franchise Brands.

    We are looking for a high end Technical Specialist within Cloud Infrastructure and Architecture for our business, Franchise Brands.

    Franchise Brands is an international, multi-brand franchisor focused on building market-leading businesses primarily via a franchise model. The Group currently has a combined network of over 625 franchisees across seven brands in the UK, North America and Europe.

    We own several market-leading brands with established trading histories: Metro Rod, Metro Plumb, Willow Pumps, Filta, and more recently, Pirtek in Europe - all of which benefit from the Group's central support services, in particular; Franchise Support, National Sales / Account Management, Information Technology, Marketing, Finance, Recruitment and HR.

    What does it entail?

    This is a hybrid role, with presence required at our IT Head Office based in Milton Keynes.

    As part of our expansion, we are seeking a talented Senior Software Developer with expertise in Python, web technologies, Azure, SQL Server, and MySQL to lead and contribute to our growing development team.

    As the team leader you will work with and mentor two python developers developing robots, integrating systems with third party APIs, developing web portals and leveraging AI and machine learning technologies to innovate and deliver business benefits.

    Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

    • Leading and mentoring a small team of Developers
    • Providing technical guidance and oversight throughout the software development life cycle
    • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable and high-performance software solutions using Python, Django, SQL Server & MySQL utilising Kubernetes/Docker technologies in a Microsoft Azure environment
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
    • Conduct regular code reviews to ensure code quality, adherence to coding standards, and best practices
    • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, providing innovative solutions to meet project requirements
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the team

    What IT experience are we looking for?

    Ideally you will have Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field and be Agile (SCRUM) Certified.

    In addition:

    • Proven experience (7+ years) in software development with a strong focus on Python and Django
    • Expertise in working with relational databases, particularly SQL Server and MySQL.
    • Previous experience in a leadership or managerial role, overseeing a remote team of developers
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Significant experience in software development methodologies and Agile based delivery
    • Experience with PHP, MySQL, SQL Server development stack
    • Ideally experience in developing in a Microsoft Azure environment utilising Kubernetes / Docker technologies
