An exciting opportunity has arisen in HMP Birmingham Healthcare for a Band 5 Staff Nurse in Birmingham Recovery Team formerly the IDTS (Integrated Drug Treatment Service Team).
BRT aims to increase the volume and care and quality of treatment available to prisoners that are assessed as requiring treatment for drugs and alcohol misuse, with particular emphasis on early custody.
To provide high quality evidence-based nursing care, advice, and support for service users with substance misuse, mental and physical health needs.
This will include providing health and substance misuse assessment, medication and care within a Multi-Disciplinary custodial setting.Completing nursing reviews and observations of patients experiencing withdrawals from drug and alcohol using relevant screening tools such as COWS/CIWA.
Supporting with ACCT (Assessment, Care in Custody and Teamwork) process and algorithms for fitness to remain in the Care and Separation Unit.
To ensure a high standard of nursing in the application of clinical nursing procedures and treatment including the custody storage and administration of all prescribed medication required for patients' health and wellbeing.
Consulting with internal and external partner agencies to provide continuity of care of Prisoners within HMP Birmingham.Welcome to Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.
