    Description

    THE ROLE

    Reporting to the Head of International Tax, your key responsibilities are as follows:

    Compliance

  • Preparing all UK tax returns and calculations and any other UK obligations (e.g. capital allowances claims) prior to submission to HMRC
  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of information required for tax computations, reporting and audit enquiries.
  • Manage any HMRC enquiries with Group Tax, deal with information requests promptly and participate in any negotiations.
  • Conduct annual review of BBC Studios' tax processes and controls.
  • Review transfer pricing policies and documentation.
  • Responsible for the Studios aspect of UK tax issues including corporate interest restrictions, Controlled Foreign Companies risk assessments, and Country by Country reporting.
  • Prepare quarterly and year-end tax provisions for UK reporting and Group consolidation, ensuring compliance with internal controls processes and liaison with statutory auditors.
  • Support any Group tax reporting processes.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Group Tax team.

    • Advisory

  • Provide advice to the UK business on day-to-day tax issues. Assess implications of projects (e.g. business changes) on UK tax accounting and compliance.
  • Advisory support on the tax implications of business changes such as restructures, new initiatives, and new lines of business.
  • Proactively advise on the impact of upcoming new taxes or changes in legislation or best practice. Understand the implications and design changes in processes to address and ensure day 1 compliance.
  • Influence and partner with senior stakeholders to ensure most effective UK tax planning and compliance.
  • Provide advice on UK tax framework and requirements to support international initiatives and non-UK parts of the business.
  • Support any M&A activity with a UK tax aspect.
  • Support and provide input into Group planning and forecasting cycles and review performance against forecast.

    • Governance

  • Maintaining a risk register recording tax related risks and ensuring appropriate mitigations are in place and significant risks escalated as appropriate.
  • Support timely preparation and submission of group and regulatory reports.
  • Support the effective planning and running of wider tax governance processes.
  • Proactively advise Head of Tax and the Group Tax Director about tax compliance developments and risks (including risk mitigations and proposed solutions).
  • Identify shortcomings, suggest improvements and implement approved revisions to current compliance processes, systems and procedures.

    • WHAT DOES IT TAKE?

    Essential:

  • A relevant Accountancy or Tax qualification
  • Strong experience in UK tax, ideally with some of this experience being in an inhouse environment.
  • Strong understanding and experience of statutory accounts and audit.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders both within and outside of a finance environment.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Excellent knowledge of UK corporation tax and HMRC's reporting requirements.
  • Ability to lead numerous actions in a coordinated and organised manner.
  • Efficient process management and delegation skills.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Personal skills – proactive, commercial awareness and a curiosity and desire to understand the commercial levers of the business.

    Salary: Up to £91,035 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

    The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

    Working Pattern: Hybrid Working (Mix of working from home plus two/three days a week in the office).
