    Description

    Working in collaboration with colleagues at the James Paget University Hospitals, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the Lead Clinical Safety Officer will support the development of a shared clinical safety approach, where possible, for all healthcare associated technologies and a clinical risk management plan that will underpin the development and implementation of the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) solution.

    Promote the adoption of digital working to improve patient safety, quality, outcomes and experience.

    Promote the adoption of digital working to help improve staff efficiency and wellbeing.

    Ensure digital clinical safety is the overarching priority within any digital transformation/change management project.


    Develop, maintain and refine robust systems and processes for identifying and addressing clinical safety risks associated with Digital Health Applications and IT Systems.


    Establish and/or maintain coherent and comprehensive business processes to manage resources to optimise the management of clinical safety risks throughout the lifecycle of ALL health IT systems and applications within the Digital Health Portfolio from procurement (or development) through to decommissioning.

    Lead the development, management and maintenance and support teams with the maintenance of the following, detailed below, for each Digital Health Application and IT System

    o A Clinical Risk Management File (CRMF)

    o A Clinical risk Management Plan (CRMP)

    o Clinical Safety Case

    o Clinical Safety Case Report

    o Decommissioning Clinical Safety Case Report


    We're working on a once in a generation opportunity to build a new state-of-the-art hospital to open in 2030 and we are also carrying out on one of the biggest pieces of digital transformation work we've ever undertaken.


    Our new electronic patient record (EPR) will replace paper-based patient records from 2026 and will lead to better, safer, joined-up care at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and beyond.


    At The QEH we provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, North Cambs and South Lincs.

    Registered healthcare professional with current UK registration
    Educated at degree level in a health-related subject or equivalent experience
    Masters level or equivalent in a health-related subject, equivalent experience or working towards
    Accredited Clinical Safety Officer
    Evidence of and commitment to continuing professional development and maintenance of a Personal Professional Profile
    Management or Leadership qualification or equivalent level of experience

    Formal leadership and management training or Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Health Leadership (eg. NHS Digital Leadership Academy)
    Quality Improvement Certification
    Working knowledge and experience of all relevant UK legislation relating to Clinical Safety including DCB0129 and DCB0160 standards
    Experienced Clinical Safety Officer with portfolio of evidence to demonstrate practice and achievements
    Significant experience in clinical risk management including creation and maintenance of risks and issues logs
    Experience in developing and implementing new policies, procedures, and ways of working
    Experienced in stakeholder management and ability to influence change

    Significant experience of implementing Trust wide Digital Health Applications and IT Systems
