    Job Description

    Role: Senior Legal Counsel

    Salary: Up to £90,000 + Bonus + Life insurance + 25 days holiday + pension

    Location: Reading - 5 days per week

    The company:

    MDE are delighted to be working with this long-standing client who are one of the best known and respected energy and construction companies in the UK. With an international presence, this company have had consistent growth over the past two years and they pride themselves on customer experience and satisfaction.

    Due to this sustained growth, MDE are now helping this client find a Senior Legal Counsel to work with their in-house legal team on all legal matters, but primarily working with our clients partners to progress and complete leases for their projects.

    Responsibilities:

    • Providing support to the Head of Legal
    • Chairing meetings with the legal team
    • Supervising and managing specific functions within the UK legal team
    • Providing legal guidance on various matters including contracts, regulatory compliance, and commercial property
    • Reviewing, reporting, and negotiating contracts
    • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating leases with the client's solicitor
    • Conducting title reviews and sharing findings internally, along with raising necessary title inquiries with the Landlord's solicitor
    • Identifying and mitigating legal risks
    • Addressing team inquiries and ensuring adherence to processes and procedures
    • Conducting training sessions and providing support to the legal team
    • Supporting the development of standard legal documents and templates
    • Collaborating closely with external solicitors and internal teams to ensure project processes are followed consistently

    Skills Required:

    • Be a fully qualified lawyer authorised to practice in the UK with a Master/Bachelor of Laws degree or equivalent and at least 5 years' relevant PQE in commercial law.
    • Demonstrates high personal integrity and motivation
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Strong negotiation abilities
    • Attentive to detail
    • Collaborative and team-oriented
    • Proficient in English communication
    • Experienced in commercial leases
    • Capable of effectively managing deadlines and prioritizing tasks under pressure, with the ability to handle conflicting priorities
    • Proactive, energetic, and tenacious in problem-solving
    • Takes initiative in task progression, seeking guidance when needed

    Location:

    This role would require you to be on-site 5 days a week during the probation period. After this there may be some flexibility with working from home.
