Team Manager - Glasgow, United Kingdom - Tokamak Energy Ltd.

    Default job background
    Part time
    Description

Oxford headquartered Tokamak Energy is widely recognised as a world-leader in high temperature superconductor (HTS) magnet, design, numerical modelling, and prototyping.

This expertise was borne from our path towards commercial fusion energy in developing spherical tokamaks with high HTS magnets. We have pioneered these technologies since 2012, long before their importance was widely recognised.

We believe that our HTS developments will usher in the high temperature superconductor era which will enable fusion for all and impact many other industries.

Our new dedicated commercial HTS business unit, in collaboration with key manufacturing partners, is focussed on becoming the leading supplier of HTS magnets to multiple markets.

We aim to provide magnet systems for other fusion companies to accelerate that industry, as well as to address exciting new applications for HTS, including propulsion in water, air and space, renewable energy and science.

Tokamak Energy was founded in 2009 as a spin-off from the UK's Culham Centre for Fusion Energy and currently employs a growing team of over 250 people with experts from the UK and around the world.

It combines world leading scientific, engineering, industrial and commercial capabilities.

The company has 70 families of patent applications and has raised $250 million, comprising $200m from private investors and $50m from the UK and US governments.

Our US subsidiary, Tokamak Energy Inc, was established in 2019.

Come and be a part of a dynamic and innovative team who are striving to provide a solution to one of humanity's greatest challenges: clean and sustainable energy for all.

The MBU is new structure within Tokamak Energy.

This is a production leadership role within the MBU focused on developing and improving our production structures to manage day-to-day activities across the manufacturing section of the MBU.

We need a production leader to help us shape our processes to ensure we operate efficiently and effectively where each contributing member is maximising the use of their key skills.

Lead the day to day running of the MBU production cell, understanding the pulse of the unit and removing blockers to allow our specialist manufacturing and technicians to focus on maximising the quality and pace of the output.

Lead the implementation of process changes in ways of working to support the delivery of projects/products to internal and external customers against time, quality, and cost.

Ensure each manufacturing task is suitably resourced with appropriately skilled personnel, materials and appropriately configured equipment.
Support the transfer of manufacturing methods and set-up of production at third-party sites.

Support with the production layout, working with site and infrastructure, safety and quality, to ensure ensuring an efficient manufacturing process flow as per control plan.

Work closely with the TE quality and technical teams to ensure the products are aligned with the project requirements and quality standards defined by the business directives.

Appropriate experience and proven track record of leading manufacturing cells in bespoke technology activities.
A demonstrated track record of operating a well organised, delivery and customer focussed manufacturing cell.
A broad understanding of manufacturing engineering, process development and tooling development would be beneficial.
Empathetic and able to form a strong network of effective relationships across the organisation.

Great communication skills (both oral and written) with the ability to report project status and issues concisely and effectively in different forums.

Proactive, energetic and delivery focused and able to support and motivate the manufacturing team to progress with good problem-solving skills.
