Senior Research Partnerships and Networks Coordinator - United Kingdom - Overseas Development Institute
Description
Senior Research Partnerships and Networks Coordinator - ALNAP
Research Fellow: Senior Research Partnerships and Networks Coordinator - ALNAP
Contract: 1-year fixed term with potential for extension
Location: Remote working or hybrid working in the UK
Ref: ALNAP0223
An independent, global think tank, working for a sustainable
and peaceful world in which every person thrives.
About us
ODI ) is an independent, global think tank. We work to inspire people to act on injustice and inequality. Through research, convening and influencing, we generate ideas that matter for people and planet.
We offer competitive salaries, a generous company pension scheme, hybrid working and a range of flexible, family-friendly and inclusive employment policies to support well-being and a healthy work-life balance.
ALNAP are looking for a researcher with experience in partnership development and management, to support the secretariat's ambition to generate more opportunities to co-create humanitarian evidence, learning and knowledge with others across our network.
About the Programme/Department
The Active Learning Network for Accountability and Performance in Humanitarian Action (ALNAP) is a system-wide network organisation dedicated to improving the accountability and performance of humanitarian action by strengthening the humanitarian evidence base through sharing lessons, identifying key issues and, where appropriate, providing leadership to find collective approaches and solutions.
Applicants will be experienced in coordinating and convening large research consortia with globally diverse research partners. They will have good knowledge of research methods and approaches, while also being motivated to work as a convenor of researchers rather than a direct producer of research themselves. They will enjoy the creative and productive side of research, bring strong networking skills and enjoy connecting people and working effectively across diverse working cultures.
This role will develop, cultivate and manage research partnerships for ALNAP across at least two key strategic projects: our State of the Humanitarian System research programme and a new research programme on locally led action in humanitarian contexts.
About the projects:
State of the Humanitarian System research: This is ALNAP's flagship report series, produced since 2010. The role will engage a consortia of country-level researchers and research institutions to produce original analysis on themes related to humanitarian crises and performance, for the 2026 State of the Humanitarian System report. The challenge in this project is finding a way to balance the needs of country-level data collection for an existing research framework, which can risk being extractive, and supporting rather than suppressing original thought leadership and the learning priorities of our in-country partners.
Locally led action in humanitarian contexts: This research programme is expected to have multiple strands, looking at the impact of hyper-local 'survivor and community led response' approaches, as well as better highlighting the performance outcomes of local actors and undertaking research on systems change for more locally led action. The role will work across these areas, with different groupings of partners and research leads, to deliver a range of research products and learning events.
Person specification
Interview date: Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis
ODI is committed to developing and supporting diverse and inclusive teams of people who share our passion, where we can all be ourselves and succeed on merit. We welcome applicants from a range of diverse backgrounds including those who experience intersectional marginalisation on the basis of their class, race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religious identity or belief, marriage and civil partnership, and pregnancy and maternity. We also welcome applications from those living with disabilities.
