    Description

    Project Manager - Structured Cabling

    Location: Commutable from Bristol Area, Bath, Trowbridge, and Swindon with occasional overnight stays required.

    Role Overview:

    A leading technology solutions provider is seeking a dedicated and experienced Project Manager to oversee the end-to-end delivery of structured cabling projects. The successful candidate will have a strong background in the private sector, with hands-on experience in supervising and managing teams, as well as a deep understanding of fibre, copper, and cabling installation. This role requires a proactive leader with excellent organizational and communication skills who thrives in a non-micromanaged environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    ·Supervise and manage teams of engineers and subcontractors.

    ·Conduct site surveys, produce quotes, and create bills of materials.

    ·Organise materials, deliveries, and purchase orders.

    ·Manage installations and maintenance within live office and large manufacturing environments.

    ·Complete office rewires, installations, and patching.

    ·Design and install cable runs and outlet presentations.

    ·Perform installation, termination, and testing of CAT5/6/6A, voice cabling, and fibre cabling, including splicing.

    ·Investigate and resolve faults, testing with Fluke DTX/DSX.

    ·Compile test results and ensure all work meets quality and H&S standards.

    ·Train new staff and ensure adherence to high standards.

    ·Liaise with customers, electricians, and site facilities to ensure smooth project delivery.

    ·Plan and manage structured cabling projects from RFQ through to commissioning and handover.

    ·Participate in regular meetings to discuss project updates and potential issues.


    Key Competencies:

    ·Supervisory experience managing teams of 4+ engineers and subcontractors.

    ·Expertise in site surveys, quoting, and producing bills of materials.

    ·Ability to work in live office and large manufacturing environments.

    ·Proficient in installation, termination, and testing of various types of cabling.

    ·Strong organizational skills to manage materials, deliveries, and permits.

    ·Experience in designing and installing internal and external cabling solutions.

    ·Knowledge of health and safety regulations and confined spaces working.

    ·Proven ability to meet deadlines and maintain high customer satisfaction.

    ·Leadership skills to train and manage teams effectively.

    Desired Qualifications and Experience:

    ·MOD experience and familiarity with ECR process and JSP 604 standards (highly desirable but not essential).

    ·Current or lapsed SC/DV clearances (highly desirable but not essential).

    ·Several years of experience in hands-on engineering and project management.

    ·Strong character, leadership, and self-motivation.

    ·A focus on practical, hands-on project management rather than high-level strategic roles.
