    Job summary

    The Lane Fox Respiratory Service is seeking a new full-time (10 PA) consultant to join a dynamic, enthusiastic and multi-disciplinary team. This post is an opportunity to join the Lane Fox Service with clinical commitment to delivering care within the inpatient weaning service, the home ventilation service, the outpatient service, the outreach service and the Lane Fox Remeo centre (based on the East Surrey Hospital site at Redhill, Surrey). The post will have specialist interest in the management of patients with motor neurone disease. The team is keen to appoint an individual with cores skills in respiratory medicine with the opportunity for training to develop confidence in the management of specific areas such as complex weaning offered if appropriate. The Lane Fox Service is keen that the appointee will enhance the current team and ensure we maintain the service at the forefront of clinical and academic excellence.

    Main duties of the job

    The post is based at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust with the Lane Fox Unit located on the St Thomas' site and the Lane Fox Remeo centre based on the East Surrey Hospital site. The majority of the work will be carried out on the St Thomas' site with a core commitment of weeks on call at the Remeo centre (6 weeks per year). The Lane Fox Respiratory Service offers a wide range of services to patients with chronic respiratory conditions. The post-holder will undertake home ventilation, outpatient sessions, ward rounds, and outreach and community reviews. The role includes time managing patients with motor neurone disease, an expanding area within the service. The post-holder will be expected to work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to provide respiratory and holistic care. The successful applicant will be expected to take an active role in education and research within the Lane Fox Respiratory Service.     The post holder must be medically qualified and maintain GMC specialist registration and hold a licence to practice.

    The post-holder will undertake in-patient cover at the Lane Fox Unit at St Thomass Hospital and the Lane Fox Remeo unit.

  • Eligible for full UK GMC registration and a Licence to Practice
  • On GMC Specialist Register or within six months of attaining CCT in Respiratory & General Internal Medicine.
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • MRCP or equivalent

  • BSc or equivalent
  • PhD or equivalent
  • Clinical Experience

    Essential

  • ICU experience as a specialist registrar
  • Acute and home mechanical ventilation (non-invasive and invasive ventilation)
  • Respiratory sleep studies
  • Experience in the management of patients with chronic respiratory failure
  • Desirable

  • Anaesthetic experience including tracheostomy ventilation experience
  • Limited respiratory polygraphy and full polysomnography interpretation
  • Clinical period outside the UK
  • Clinical Skills
