    Finance Business Partner

    Manchester

    12 month Fixed Term Contract

    As a qualified accountant are you looking for an opportunity to use your strong analytical and storytelling skills to challenge and influence a broad range of stakeholders up to and including exec level?

    Are you interested in driving Transformational business change projects ?

    As the Finance Business Partner, your role will be to work with us in a period of growth. During which time you will be key in storytelling and influencing both financial and non-financial stakeholders, breaking down jargon and driving forward our Finance Business Partnering vision .

    As the Finance Business Partner, reporting directly into the Head of Finance Business Partnering, you will have autonomy, a diverse stakeholder base, exposure to the exec team, work alongside a Business Partnering team of 5 and the FP&A team, in an overall Finance function of approximately 50.

    The team have flexibility at their heart whilst working together to share knowledge and expertise . You will have access from day one to an incredibly generous pension scheme, annual leave allowance, starting with 25 days, + Bank Holidays, + Christmas off and it just grows from there

    Working alongside Directors and your designated business areas you will support our Chief Operating Office and a two large multi-million-pound transformational change programmes (details below) allowing you to have a hand in the strategic direction of AQA as we grow, diversify and aim to shape the future of education and assessments.

    • Evaluate and optimise operational processes. Looking at the end-to-end exam series delivery model including technology changes for the benefit of colleagues, customers, and our examining community.
    • Examining community engagement programme. Ensuring we are easy to do business with and help us to recruit and retain diverse, high quality and engaged associates.

    This is a true Finance Business Partnering role, which means what you will not be doing is Year and Month End Accounts and Audits but instead be given the opportunity to influence , impact and join up the thinking of the business.

    Whether you already work in a commercially focused area or are looking for that exposure and accountability and have worked in a business partnering model before then this role will offer that and more.

    Summary

    Create and develop a valuable business partnership with the Director and Management team of designated business units and projects to provide high quality financial analysis, support and challenge that enables the division to deliver its strategic goals.Key accountabilities
    Be an active member of the business unit/project leadership team providing excellent finance business partnering to support the business to meet both short term goals and strategic objectives. Be the 'critical friend' ensuring there is a seat at the table to influence, support and challenge.
    Proactively engage, challenge and influence the relevant business Director, management team and other key stakeholders in regard to their forecasting, expenditure and longer term financial plans. Work closely with the Financial Planning and Analysis team to produce insightful financial forecasts for the business unit area with clear story telling and a robust risk and opportunities process. Have clear actions to drive performance ensuring ownership of financials within the business.
    Proactively provide high quality financial analysis with clear recommendations and use this to influence the business to drive positive change in line with objectives.
    Support the business unit to make informed and commercially considered strategic and tactical decisions by providing critical evaluation and challenge.
    Where appropriate lead the production of high quality financial forecasting, performance and benefits realisation for Projects, Bids and Contracts across the business. Influence and support decision making with clear financial analysis and tracking of costs.
    Create and deliver executive presentations for senior management.
    Coach other members of Finance to provide excellent finance business partnering support to the business. Set clear direction and expectations with honest two way feedback to progress their development.
    Seek to continually improve business process, quality and behaviour in relation to financial awareness across the business and be able to interpret and communicate financial data to non-financial managers. General accountabilities
    Continuously seek to enhance performance in line with business objectives.

    Significant knowledge and understanding of the range of services provided by high quality finance functions - A/I Qualification
    Fully qualified accountant with a minimum of three years post qualification experience - A Skills
    Exceptional critical evaluation and analytical skills - I/P
    Able to take initiative and proactively lead projects, influencing and challenging business leaders using expertise and the highly developed communication skills required to advise non-finance colleagues - I/P
    Outstanding consulting and negotiating skills - I/P
    Comfortable with product profitability and portfolio modelling - I/P
    Robust commercial acumen. - I/P
    Strong project management skills, able to manage multiple objectives - I/P
    Skilled in the use of financial systems and tools including ERP - A/I/P
