An opportunity has arisen to join Flood Risk Management team as an Assistant Engineer.
This role will involve assisting the Flood Risk Manager in delivering the Council's statutory functions as a Lead Local Flood Authority and to develop and promote best practice. This includes assisting in delivering the actions of Leicestershire's Local Flood Risk Management Strategy and deputising and/or assisting the Senior Engineer when required in representing the Council at meetings as appropriate etc.
About the Role
This role will involve being a key part of the Flood Risk Management team delivering the remit of the Lead local Flood Authority. This will involve a variety of functions including the statutory consultee to the planning process, investigating locally significant flooding issues, developing and delivering flood resilience projects, updating the asset register and responding to applications for consent under the Land Drainage Act.
You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and have experience of managing your own workload and working to deadlines and be prepared to challenge the status quo in line with evolving statutory responsibilities.
You will have excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
