Description
The Head of Product & Operational Quality roles is responsible for the strategy and delivery of outgoing quality of our products that are supplied to customers. The role will oversee the entire production lifecycle, owning perceived quality target setting in the concepting stage and quality engineering in the development phase, all the way through to product end line audit and issue management. The role will be accountable for operational quality functions including calibration, metrology and IQC. The role will also be responsible for supporting the technology development projects to ensure quality appropriate engineering inputs and maturity to ensure new technology meets the maturity levels required to be incorporated into customer projects. The role will own the vehicle line KPI's and support the implementation and development of Lean thinking across the organisation, with a key role of driving operational efficiency to ensure each car is built right first time every time to ensure customer satisfaction. The role will include leading a large team including team leaders, engineers and specialists as well as Programme Management, Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Aftersales. · Product and Operational Quality Strategy, Process, Product Development and Delivery across programmes to ensure vehicles are delivered right first time every time.· Accountable for Perceived Quality; benchmarking, target setting, measurements, and issue resolution· Product and Operational quality metrics and associated KPI reporting to the Leadership Team across all projects and programmes. Managing overall product and operational quality risks and mitigation through development and production phases of the product life.· A focus on continual improvements through Production and associated function business reviews, seeking opportunities for improvement including the evolution of lean Thinking principles. · Representative of Product and Operational Quality at design reviews to ensure the designs and engineering have manufacture and assembly in mind and therefore are fit for purpose.· Work directly with Homologation and Compliance teams to ensure the vehicle meets the OEM CoP compliance obligations, including final customer vehicle sign off.· Develop and Own the Vehicle Issue Management process, including driving issue resolution through to completion and KPI reporting.· Own and develop the end of line vehicle hand over process from final production stage to customer handover, including registration of CoC.Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
· Establish strong team member relations, and provide support for people development, coaching and mentoring. · Set, support and motivate team members to achieve company, departmental and personal objectives via the company PDP process. · Conduct 1:1 sessions and work on the development of team member.· Managing the day-to-day activities of the team and delegate workloads fairly. · Plan and evaluate department activities and delegate as required. · Responsible for resource of the team/department and work with the internal recruitment team when needed. · Lead by example. · Manage conflict, resolve incidents, and solve problems. · Share and cascade information and communicate goals.Benefits
