    Job summary

    An opportunity has arisen within the West Community Mental Health team for a competent, confident and enthusiastic Clinical Specialist Nurse to cover maternity leave. We encourage applicants to get in touch for a discussion prior to interview. We cover the geographical area West of York between Great Ouseburn, Tockwith and Acomb.

    The successful candidate will be expected to work autonomously in a fast paced environment and provide clinical leadership within the team working alongside the Team Manager utilising skills to support team members, the role also maintains the offer of intervention and therapies to a defined caseload.

    Ideally you will hold a non medical prescribing qualification or be experienced in delivering one of the governed psychological therapies, such as DBT, CAT, CBT, or EMDR.

    The post holder will be part of a resilient and professional team working collaboratively with internal and external partners to support the needs of those who are experiencing a deterioration in their mental health and their family carer needs. The team takes a recovery orientated, formulation driven approach, which values shared decision making.

    Strong team working is essential, requiring networking with a variety of people, as well as working in partnership with a range of different agencies both internal and external to the team.

    A commitment to providing high quality services and making a difference to peoples experience and outcomes is the corner stone of this post.

  • Leading on professional development and ensuring the delivery of robust evidence based practice.
  • To ensure high professional standards of nursing practice in accordance with the NMC code of Conduct
  • To provide nurse led diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • To undertake ongoing audit of care and service delivery, underpinned by research and evidence-based practice.
  • To support the ward or team manager and other senior clinical staff in establishing and maintaining high standards and continual improvement within the established governance framework.
  • To participate in clinical/professional and management supervision
  • To contribute to multi-disciplinary team working
  • To use system one electronic patient record system
  • To abide by all Trust policies and procedures
  • To be able to respond flexibly and creatively to challenges

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Current Professional Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council - RMN / RNLD/ RGN (RNSC - CAMHS Only)
  • Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor or currently in progress of achieving.
  • Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing Clinical Supervision or in the process of achieving
  • Postgraduate diploma in a subject relevant to the area Or be willing to work towards and achieve within 2 years and
  • Within the first year of being in post hold a recognised qualification in a governed therapy/advanced clinical qualification Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Post Grad diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP (Independent Prescriber)
  • And have Equivalent clinical experience to that of a Post Grad Diploma/master's level such as working as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area with significant experience (see below under experience), together with evidence of relevant CPD

  • Extensive knowledge of current issues relating to health needs of patients in the field of practice, regionally and nationally
  • Understanding and working knowledge of the legal framework and statutory obligations under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act
  • Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
  • Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
  • Clinical Governance and its application in practice.
  • Working knowledge of clinical medicines management
  • Understanding of psychological models of care and treatment (depending on specialist area)
