    S enior Dinghy Instructor

    Post closes 31st March
    Job Purpose
    Support and assist the Wimbleball Team for an efficient and profitable Activity Centre.

    To run and delegate members of staff in different tasks such as:
    Hire, launch and tuition of courses for a range of activities including sailing, windsurfing and paddlesports.

    Assist the supervision of camping operations and in the development of all site activities and to be responsible for periodic equipment checks.

    Key Tasks and Responsibilities


    • Deliver the activity program including clubs, courses, 'Have a Go' sessions and other activities.
    • Adhere to South West Lakes Trust procedures and guidelines as laid down in the Activity Center Manual.
    • Keep to recognised SWLL, NGB and AALA safety standards for all activities
    • Assist with building a reliable and trustworthy team of staff at the Centre; perform staff observations, deliver morning brief and debrief from time to time.
    • Maintain Centre equipment and documentation to National Governing Body standards required for all inspections.
    • Liaise and co-operate with all other water users and operations on site on a day to day basis
    • Be responsible for ensuring site security and keeping safety/maintenance records of all equipment.
    • Work with the Visitor Experience Team to ensure site, buildings and facilities are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness at all times.
    • Assist with training of staff, work experience and volunteer personnel in health and safety and operating procedures.
    • Maintain excellent customer relations.
    • Handling Money for daily sales
    • Accountable to the Visitor Experience Manager for health and safety of colleagues, customers, contractors and self.
    • Carry out such other duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Trust. Experience

    • Motivating employees to achieve their objectives
    • Dealing with the general public and excellent customer service
    • Proven ability to teach and communicate with customers at all levels.
    • Proven, experience of working in the industry
    • Knowledge of water and land based recreational activities
    • Experience of operating in a sales environment. Capabilities
    • Basic IT skills
    • Good telephone manner
    • Enthusiasm for assisting the general public and excellent customer service skills
    • Ability to follow instructions and self-motivated to work under own direction
    • Adaptable and enthusiastic
    • Good team worker, able to communicate well with colleagues
    • Willing to undertake training and to train others.
    • Smart personal appearance and professional image.
    • Ability to swim. Qualifications
    Essential


    • RYA Senior Dinghy/Windsurfing Instructor
    • RYA Dinghy and/or Windsurfing Instructor.
    • Valid RYA membership
    • Valid First Aid qualification.
    • Current clean driving license

    Safe guarding Desirable:



    • RYA Powerboat instructor, advanced dinghy instructor, race coach, keelboat instructor
    • Facilities management and health and safety training and experience.
    • CWA / RCI
