Meaningful Work From Day One
Our business in the UK (BFBE) & Ireland are growing and diverse. This role is responsible for Brown-Forman's UK (BFBE) & Ireland US GAAP and local statutory accounting. It ensure the accuracy and integrity of Brown-Forman's financial records with respect to (a) US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), (b) local accounting standards, and (c) all relevant tax regimes, including US and local corporate income tax and indirect taxes (Excise and VAT).
This role will assist the Regional Director Accounting in providing accounting and controlling advice on potential transactions or business changes. It will also serve as a business partner to senior local management by communicating quantitative and qualitative information in a clear and accurate manner to support management decision making. This role will lead an accounting team which is made up of managers, senior and junior accountants in various locations.
This is an office/hybrid role where you will be at our fantastic modern office 3 days a week
What You Can Expect
Integrity of Financial Records
Responsible for ensuring all financial records are maintained in accordance with US GAAP and local statutory regulations in a timely and accurate manner.
This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting and tax compliance activities including but not limited to month end closing, preparation and submission of various tax returns (VAT, Excise) and annual local statutory audit.
Review and analyse balance sheet reconciliations, reasonableness and provide explanation to their fluctuations.
Own the rebates processing process and ensure their accuracy and timeliness. Collaborate closely with Finance Rebates team on accurate accruals and releases and provide a robust discounts/ rebates analytics in the balance sheet
Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of our internal SOX Narratives around key processes.
Partner with GBS CCCA Process Lead to lead the CCCA team based in the UK to ensure all reports are delivered on time, customers overdue amounts are being investigated and promptly action on.
Partner with UK Tax Manager to lead and complete any HMRC due diligence exercises (inquiry/audit), HMRC business risk review, Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) attestation, maintenance of the risk assessment and controls matrix (RACM)
Responds to any inquiries on financial results or special reporting requests etc
Lead the annual statutory audit process, coordinating the different teams in the UK in order to support the external audit process. Responds to any inquiries on financial results or special reporting requests etc
Business Partnering
Serve as a key member of the UK extended leadership team and of the UK finance leadership team, collaborating closely with all the functional areas of the UK and Ireland and maintains a productive working relationship with internal stakeholders (to replace following sentence)
Communicate financial data (quantitative & qualitative) in a timely, clear and concise manner.
Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and policies to ensure appropriate internal controls are in place and in accordance with corporate policies and SOX
Responsible for the organizational training calendar for the UK, for specific accounting related topics (CCO, expenses approval..)

What You Bring to the Table
Are an Accounting Manager or equivalent at present or are at an Accounting Team Lead or Accounting Supervisor role looking for a step up
Certifications: ACCA, CPA or UK CICMA or similar internationally recognized advanced accounting qualification.
Strong people leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to analyse financial statements, general ledger accounts, and prepare accounting workpapers.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of internal and external contacts.
Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to review processes to determine any gaps and generate ideas for process improvement.
