    Default job background
    Description

    Job Title:
Community builder specialistOrganisation: Project: The Commons Fund (TCF)

    Location:

    Virtual Job Type:
    Part-Time (Volunteer)

    Remuneration:

Volunteer, no salaryIn a world faced with many challenges from AI jobs displacement to economic inequalities, The Commons Fund offers opportunities to transition to a more sustainable system.

The Fund empowers individuals and communities to explore their meaning, purpose and sustainable solutions by supporting their projects with a living wage for two years.

Why did we create TCF?Wealth inequality has sharply divided our global society, worsened by technology and AI replacing many jobs.

TCF combats this issue by providing up to two years of transitional income to those affected, helping them find sustainable pathways for themselves and the planet.

About The TCF EcosystemThe TCF Ecosystem is a global network of projects, volunteers and funders who come together to provide funding directly to individuals and their project participants in the form of basic income grants in order to explore people and planet wellbeing and sustainability projects.

The collective voice of the Ecosystem offers an unparalleled opportunity to invest in diversity sustainability at a truly global scale and scope without diluting the importance of local engagement.

Our world faces pressing challenges in environmental, financial, and social domains.

Traditional institutional methods continue to be employed, often with little effect, reminiscent of Einstein's observation that insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly while expecting different outcomes.

Margaret Mead's perspective offers a valuable counterpoint:

she famously stated that real change is driven by small groups of committed citizens, not by governments or institutions.

Mead emphasised that significant social change stems from individual passion, contingent on access to opportunities and resources. Our funding approach aims to ignite this passion by supporting such individuals and projects.
TCF is at the forefront of pioneering innovative solutions for societal advancement and environmental sustainability. Our mission is centred around creating impactful change through philanthropy, technology, and community-driven projects. We are committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment where every individual has the opportunity to thrive.

We collect stories not GDP dataRole OverviewTCF has grown rapidly to a scale larger than we can easily manage, we are seeking additional Volunteers to join our founders (Rob and Annabelle) and our existing teamsWe need to build and scale a process which sees three thriving communities develop1/ Projects.

Globally, we have 17 projects we are onboarding globally and another 6 which wish to join.

We have several digital engagement channels which we wish to develop and develop community amongst this group and enable many thousands of project managers to join.

This "collective voice" of community projects represents the real value proposition to funders who benefit from the collective appeal of our projects.2/ Volunteers and supporters.

These are organisations and individuals who wish to support The Commons Fund non-financially. From ad-hoc resourcing to corporate secondment, there are many ways in which organisations have supported us at Ethos. We need help to refine our outreach, recruitment, onboarding and work allocation processes.

We have used the latest online technology to manage work over the last 15 years so you should be no stranger to the world of online remote work and collaboration3/ Fundraisers.

Tapping into the wealth holder communities of those who will hold the $650 trillion of wealth by 2027 is no small ambition.

Whether donors wish to support us anonymously, through collaborative funding, sponsorship, through their intermediaries, private equity, family offices or advisors there are myriad and exciting "routes to markets" and opportunities to engage.

Like our other two communities, this is all about building real community amongst those who have the real power and intent to build more sustainable systems at a global level.

Why Join Us?For the past 15 years, Ethos has provided individuals with a basic income which has allowed them to focus on work that provides meaning to them.

You can see some of our amazing results here.

    Example:
In the pandemic.... We employed 65 young people for up to 2 years each. The UK's DWP told us they were "unemployable". They all moved on to sustainable economic activities. Not because we "upskilled" them or helped them write CVs. We just believed in them and paid them a basic income of course.
