    Description

    The Court serves the public by ensuring that its work is visible, accessible and is understood as part of a healthy democracy. To do that the infrastructure which supports the Court must be robust and transparent. This role will be the driving force behind the financial management and overall governance of the UKSC. The postholder will be an experienced finance professional with a proven track record of delivering high quality financial insight, delivering financial (statutory and whole of government) accounts and leading an excellent finance and governance team to ensure sound financial management is in place.

    The postholder will be responsible for providing effective, active and dynamic leadership, communicating objectives, plans and priorities with clarity, conviction and enthusiasm and working effectively with stakeholders across the judiciary, government and Parliament to secure the Court's financial stability. The postholder will also be required to own key relationships with HM Treasury, the NAO and GIAA, as well as other stakeholders, to ensure the Court meets its financial and governance obligations.

    This role will provide the opportunity to obtain Board level experience working with Directors, Non–Executive Directors (NEDS) and the CEO/Accounting Officer as a member of the UKSC Board, Management Board and Remuneration Committee and supporting the Audit and Risk Assurance Committee.

    The Court is part way through its organisation wide Change Programme which will conclude in March 2025. The postholder will be required to lead on the Programme's finances as Finance Responsible Officer (FRO), as well as supporting other colleagues as they deliver the programme outcomes which support the Court's vision to be world leading.

    The postholder will bring vision and commitment to enable the finance and governance functions to be robust and continuously improve to safeguard the finances and reputation of the Court and ensure that it is prepared for any future changes. This role would offer the postholder a unique opportunity to work in a fantastic location, to be stretched through the varied responsibilities of the post and to work as part of a collaborative and values led team. They will be given the autonomy to delivery and the support to thrive. As the role carries significant responsibility and accountability, this role is only open to fully qualified finance professionals.
