    Job Details Responsible for: Applications Engineer – Operations European Stormwater
    Responsible for:
    • Working with Hydro customers to understand their specific technical requirements and ensuring that our range of product meets their needs.
    • Develop strong and committed relationships with consultants and designers to influence specification of Hydro Products into their designs. To include client visits.
    • Be able to highlight the features and benefits of each of the products required to the specifier and, explain how each of the products works in relation to meet related guidelines and legislation requirements.
    • Work closely with specifiers to design bespoke solutions for their drainage requirements which make it difficult to be challenged by competitors.
    • Produce detailed design technical proposals for Stormwater Management Products.
    • Providing Technical Support including drawing requests for ESW, its European Partners and our AMEA business with the management of the Stormwater product and service portfolio.
    • Approval of orders, including technical checks to ensure the correct unit is manufactured to specification. To include visits to both manufacturers and contractor sites.
    • Development of documentation to support the positioning of Hydro products in terms of current guidelines and legislation.

    Job Qualifications
    (Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience)

    Essential
    • Engineering Qualification (HND or greater)
    • Previous engineering office experience
    • Ability to use the Microsoft Office suite
    • AutoCAD / Inventor / SolidWorks experience, able to modify existing drawings.
    • Ability to use and understand the key features of iLogic within Autodesk Inventor.
    • Concise, conscientious, organised with good writing skills
    • Good communication & interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work in a team as well as on own initiative
    • Highly organised with attention to detail
    • Ability to travel on occasions to meet clients, site visits and trade shows
    • Fluent English – written & verbal
    Desirable
    • Experience of drainage design and able to understand and interpret design drawings
    • Experience of MicroDrainage / Causeway Flow / InfoWorks and hydraulic modelling
    • Knowledge of Sewers for Adoption/ Design and Construction Guidance legislation and CIRIA 753 guidance.
    • Knowledge of sustainable drainage systems and surface water management
    • Project management experience
    • Holds a CSCS card
    • French/Spanish/German – written & verbal
    Knowledge & Technical Skills
    • Engineering Qualification (HND or greater)

    Competence & Qualifications:
    Hydraulic and civil / drainage disciplines would be advantageous as would some experience of technical selling. The ability to deal competently with clients in person, by telephone and via email and to produce proposals whilst under pressure is essential. The ability to recognise opportunities and ability to upsell products is desirable.

    Skills & Attributes:
    Good communication skills, a mature approach and interpersonal contact are vital as well as the ability to self-manage workload. A logical thinker who has the ability to problem solve and create solutions that benefit both Hydro and the client. The ability to deal competently with clients in person, by telephone and via email and to produce proposals whilst under pressure is essential.

    Key Duties:
    1.
    Dealing with telephone, web based, e-mail, enquiries regarding the Stormwater management Products. This often involves understanding engineering principles and the interpretation of drainage/ site drawings.
    2.
    Working closely with clients/ consultants providing optioneering and design advice for designed schemes.
    3.
    Producing competitive designs, proposals, and quotations. Be mindful of the design requirements to lead on specification and offering a solution that the competition will find hard to match. To keep information up to date on competitors and track their activity within the marketplace. Highlight any activity that will offer intelligence to our business in terms of the direction of competitor activity.
    4.
    Assist external sales teams, business managers and regional managers in the optioneering, technical operation and lead on the specification of our products within the designs. This includes the production of drawings required for orders and quotations including General arrangement, fabrication, installation, transport, and packing.
    5.
    Support our core ESW business, European and AMEA business partners/ units with the encapsulation and management of the Europe product portfolio with the capability of applying problem solving and analytical skills to resolve issues encountered which involve our competitors or the quality performance of our products.
    6.
    Ensuring proposals are despatched to the client within the required SLAs outlined in the Task Trak system and ensuring the proposal meets client's requirements. 7. Negotiation with clients regarding price, terms and conditions and delivery.
    8. Assisting with order processing for technical approval of designs.
    9. Ensuring all necessary database details are completed for each proposal.
    10.
    To perform duties in accordance with all relevant legislation in particular the Health and Safety at Work Act.
    11.
    To apply requirements of BS EN ISO 9001 as appropriate within the areas of responsibility.
