We have an excellent opportunity for a Digital Content Officer to work within the Communications Division at the Commonwealth Secretariat. The Communications Division (COM) is responsible for providing information and raising awareness of Commonwealth values, programmes and events. This includes press and media relations, publications, publicity and public relations and website management. The Secretariat's website and social media platforms are essential components of the Commonwealth's visibility and communications strategy.
The Digital Content Officer works closely with colleagues across the Webteam and wider Communications Division and will be responsible for editing and producing multimedia content, co-ordinating social media content, and writing and editing content from existing material in a creative and engaging way. This role is key to ensuring the relevance of the role and work of the Commonwealth Secretariat is clearly articulated and understood by a variety of audiences through the Commonwealth website ) and social media.
The role will involve assisting in managing the Commonwealth's digital multimedia channels; co-planning, producing, editing and publishing video and multimedia content; creating and developing easily understood copy; creating and editing images, photos, and engaging graphics; and managing and organising all website imagery via the Commonwealth's digital asset library and multimedia drive.
To be considered for this opportunity you will need a degree in a relevant discipline such as Journalism, English, Multimedia or other related field, or an equivalent qualification. You will need at least four years' relevant work experience of writing, editing and proof-reading engaging copy for digital platforms preferably within an international development organisation or major website.
Proven experience of planning, creating, editing and disseminating multimedia content, and of social media management and engagement growth is required. You will also need a proven ability to use adobe creative suite for multimedia editing and production, experience in working with sensitive political information, experience working within a corporate communications department, and relevant UX and web design knowledge, development and implementation.
