    Job summary

    An opportunity has arisen for an Operational Manager within Diagnostics and Therapies supporting the Radiology Department at the Birmingham Children's Hospital. This post is based at Birmingham Children's Hospital though there is the potential for cross site working at Birmingham Women's Hospital if the service required.

    We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and passionate individual with strong leadership, good organisational and excellent communication skills. You will need to be able to work under pressure and work as part of the team to contribute to the highest standard of patient care.

    Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will support the Clinical Leads (Radiologists) and Departmental Leads (Radiographers, Sonographers and the Business and Admin Manager) in leading and managing the performance of the Radiology department in the delivery of planned service capacity through the effective use of resources.
  • To manage the performance of the Radiology department against local and national qualitative and quantitative service targets and within the Trust's financial allocations.
  • To lead and manage the assessment of complex operational issues and challenges facing Radiology and the provision of the service to the Trust.
  • To provide effective and innovative leadership and management, ensuring clear direction concerning service improvement and effective utilisation of resources.
  • To support the Service Manager and the Deputy Director of Operations in delivering priorities as required for the clinic group.
  • To be responsible, in conjunction with the Clinical Service Leads, Service Manager and Deputy Director of Operations, for the operational management of the clinical service group.

  • Degree level or equivalent experience
