    Description

    Job Summary:

    • Utilizing expertise in engagement, the main goal of this position is to empower residents and enhance their participation by providing excellent engagement opportunities for the community. This includes eliminating obstacles to participation and motivating individuals who have not engaged previously.
    • Collaborating with council members, the community, elected officials, and partners to organize and execute engagement activities that encourage residents to participate in service enhancements and decision-making processes.
    • Operating with an understanding of the organizational and political landscape to support engagement activities at the directorate level and coordinate corporate engagement efforts. The Community Engagement Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the council effectively listens to communities, aligning with Our Greenwich strategic goals and the Corporate Plan 2023.

    Key Duties/Accountabilities:

    • Be part of the corporate community engagement team within the Corporate & Central Services directorate to ensure residents are central to Royal Greenwich's plans and service enhancements.
    • Support the implementation of innovative community engagement strategies recognized as industry-leading.
    • Ensure engagement activities meet quality and time standards, satisfying both council and resident requirements.
    • Participate actively in organizing resident engagement events, ensuring they are effectively managed, well-attended, on schedule, and within budget limits.
    • Assist in creating engagement materials for residents and stakeholders, ensuring clear information without using unnecessary jargon.
    • Handle administrative tasks, reporting, monitoring, and data management for engagement activities in line with data collection protocols.
    • Contribute to the establishment of procedures for the engagement and participation team.

    Essential Experience Required:

    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people, from various communities to politicians, partners, and colleagues.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet use.
    • Prior experience in coordinating and managing engagement events.

    Essential Qualification Required:

    • Degree or equivalent level of experience.

    Additional information to note:

    • Full-time position: 37 hours per week.
    • Enhanced DBS check required for this role.
