You will provide comprehensive clerical support and will work closely with healthcare professionals. You will be required to prioritise your workload and meet deadlines. It is essential that you are highly organised and able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.

    As part of the Corporate Cancer Team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, we support and facilitate services to enhance quality and improvement to deliver timely, patient focused cancer care.     Main duties of the job

    The postholder is responsible for tracking patients and providing up-to-date information as they progress through the cancer care pathway, liaising closely with services such as Radiology, Pathology and Oncology to ensure patients receive their treatments in a timely period and to meet National Cancer Waiting Times Standards. They are responsible for co-ordinating the administration of MDT meetings, they must be highly organised and pay close attention to detail as the post requires a significant level of responsibility, The postholder will need to be able to both work in conjunction with clinical teams and on their own initiative. Live typing into our patient record system is a key function of this role.

    The postholder will be required to develop and maintain a good working relationship with all staff and liaise closely with clinicians, nursing staff, and patient administration staff at all levels throughout the Trust. The postholder must have excellent communication skills, be organised, and pay close attention to detail.

    Job responsibilities

    To provide administrative and clerical support to an MDT service

    The post-holder will be responsible for the provision of a full and effective administrative and clerical support service to an MDT. He/she will also be responsible for inputting data onto the cancer database [PPM] database system and producing reports as required. The post-holder will be expected to arrange and plan her/his own work on a day-to-day basis within the overall demands and priorities of the department.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Minimum of GCSE Pass/Grade C or equivalent
  • RSA level II or equivalent typing
  • Desirable

  • Competent in using other software (such as Access databases and web authoring software).
  • Skills & behaviours

    Essential

  • A good awareness of and understanding of issues surrounding diversity and patient involvement
  • Desirable

  • The ability to communicate in an ethnic minority language and/or in British Sign Language would be a bonus.
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Previous clerical/administrative experience.
  • Competent in word processing, spreadsheet packages and in using databases.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. Good command of spoken and written English. Numerate
  • Desirable

  • Work experience in a health or social care setting.
  • Knowledge of NHS
  • Personal or work experience of working with diversity disabled people, people from different cultures.
  • Additional requirements

  • Able to use own initiative
  • Must be willing to attend relevant training courses.
