    Description

    Overview

    London Borough of Harrow has a great opening for a Team Manager to lead and support the School Admissions Team.

    The team provides support to schools and Academies in Harrow. As Team Manager, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day work of the Admissions Service including management of school admissions officers and support officers ensuring a fully integrated service to parents and schools where positive outcomes are achieved.

    The post holder will also manage and implement the policy for planned admissions and late applicants, servicing and presenting reports to the School Placement Panel, a decision-making Panel for the placement of pupils where no place is available in a Harrow school, advising and presenting reports to cabinet, Independent Appeals and others as maybe required.

    The successful candidate must be able to travel as and when required in order to undertake visits to schools, families and other sites. In addition, the role does include working outside of office hours therefore the postholder must have flexiblility to attend evening meetings when necessary.

    About You

    The successful candidate will have:

    • In depth and working up to date knowledge and implementation of School Admissions and School Admissions Appeals Code including Admissions Regulations.
    • Knowledge of government policies and priorities in relation to school admissions.
    • Experience of working under pressure and to strict deadlines in a demanding environment.
    • Experience of liaising with schools, parents and officers effectively to achieve positive outcomes.
    • Evidence of good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to respond quickly to changing situations.
    • Ability to lead, motivate and empower staff and promote teamwork.
    • Ability to undertake visits to schools and families and other sites as and when required.
    • Ability to attend evening meetings e.g. Governing Bodies, Consultation events and Committees.
    • Experience in admissions working for a Local Authority.
    • Educated to degree level or equivalent or has the equivalent relevant work experience.
