    Divisional Director - Medlock Partners (Specialist in Senior Finance Appointments)

    Location: Chorley

    Summary :

    Following a recent acquisition, Medlock Partners are delighted to be exclusively partnering our client, as they look to appoint an experienced Financial Controller. Working for a 12-15 million turnover subsidiary of a Manufacturing Group, you will integrate the business under the group and assist the Divisional Finance Director in developing the newly acquired business and entities.

    Reporting directly into the Divisional Finance Director (based off site) and managing a small finance function, the Financial Controller will take full responsibility for the financial reporting activities for the site, implementing robust financial controls and supporting the wider business and operations with strategic initiatives.

    Responsibilities:

    • Preparation of the site-based results, loading TB's as appropriate into the Group consolidation tool HFM, then reviewing and analysing the financial statements for accuracy and meaning.
    • Monthly preparation of P&L, Balance Sheet & Cashflow with supporting commentary and the appropriate level of variance analysis.
    • Partner with the business leadership to support and challenge performance and improvement actions and initiatives.
    • Variance analysis will be critical to the successful understanding of the monthly financials.
    • Provide support and guidance to the local based finance team where appropriate.
    • Take responsibility for stock holding, identifying key issues whether with volume or costs and recommend the correct course of action to address them.
    • Field queries from the transactional staff offering guidance on AP/AR matters.
    • Act as the primary contact for the annual audit / accounts production liaising with auditors / stakeholders where applicable.
    • Liaise with the Divisional FD to produce the annual budget and strategic plan, updating for forecasts in line with Group timetables throughout the year.
    • Production of the rolling 13-week cashflow, feeding the output into the Division's rolling cashflow forecast.
    • Development and improvement of financial processes and systems where applicable.
    • Supporting the Divisional FD to drive through improvement initiatives, tracking and reporting progress against them and the key growth initiatives.
    • Ability to take on project tasks as and when required.
    • Preparation of monthly reporting pack and KPIs to improve the visibility of financial and non-financial information, to strengthen decision making.

    Requirements:

    • A qualified accountant with at least 5 yrs PQE in a similar industry.
    • Need to be extremely comfortable navigating their way through the financial statements and will be required to produce a set of statutory accounts.
    • Experience of working within an SME and a stock-based background is important.
    • The role is co-located with the business and will have a strong business partnering aspect to the role.
    • Ability to meet strict month-end deadlines to meet requirements of large Parent Company.

    The ideal candidate will be a hands on, experienced Financial Controller who can demonstrate a proven track record of managing a finance function, implementing strong financial controls and working towards strict deadlines in either a SME Manufacturing or stock related industry.

    The successful candidate will enjoy full autonomy in their position however, will also benefit from a group structure and be in a unique position that blends independence with valuable resources and support from the wider business.
