The Management Committee and Head of Service are seeking to appoint a dynamic and motivational Outreach Team Leader, who will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, and must have a passion for making a difference and improving outcomes for all. The post has arisen as a result of the departure of one of our current Team Leaders. This is a full time position and a non-teaching role.

We are looking for applications from qualified teachers with leadership experience. Due to the increase in the number of students being referred to GHES with SEND, we are particularly looking for applicants with the SENDCo qualification and experience of advising and supporting teaching staff, and representing children with SEND in multi-agency meetings. Two key areas that this role oversees is the Admissions and Referrals process to GHES, and the mental health and wellbeing of staff and students, this is in addition to other SLT responsibilities. Whilst we would not expect anyone coming from a mainstream school to have experience of admissions and referrals, any experience with exams would be hugely beneficial, but training in both of these areas can be given.

Gloucestershire Hospital Education Service (GHES) aims to meet the Local Authority's (LA) duty to provide equal access to appropriate education for young people who are temporarily medically too unwell to attend school. This may be due to physical illness, injury or mental health needs. GHES supports pupils to enable them to thrive and achieve their potential despite the health issues they have.

We do this through:

Providing continued education as normally as the pupil's medical condition allows

Addressing inclusion and reintegration issues specific to pupils to medical needs

Making it possible for a pupil to have a seamless education between hospital, home and school

Working in partnership with the main school the child is registered with to provide a flexible and balanced curriculum which meets the needs of each pupil whilst they are with GHES

Assisting in a smooth transition back to the main school the child is registered with (where appropriate).
